If you've actually been watching the games, he's been very solid on D since May. Even the best shortstops make errors from time to time.... just look at Semien on that Sunday game. Bo is continuing to get better.

 

Oh boy Ive watched nearly every game over past 7 years, and several in person. He's playing average lately vs terrible before. He leads the league at SS with most errors, has so so, and accuracy is below average. It's obvious he doesn't have the hands like Espinal for example. If Bichette made that error that Semien did, would you be shocked, of course not, but when Semien did everyone was, so really cant compare the two on defense, Semien is consistently better. Ill give you he is getting better, so maybe he will become a good defensive SS consistently, only time will tell. It's possible he would make a better 2nd.

I'm pretty sure every SS would make a better 2B... but if there's a chance he can be an average SS that is more valuable. (Unless they re-sign Semien or another vet shortstop)

I’m totally with you on this. I think it’s lame and it’s a narrative I’m hearings lots. Granted Nelson Cruz is a DH but has this 40 year old “learned” how to withstand a long season while raking, over a 21 year old? That makes no sense to me.. If anything these young guys should be less fatigued than guys 30 and up.

So you're basically saying there's no possibility a 30 year old has better conditioning than a 22 year old, just because one guy is younger? I don't agree with that.

 

Yes, these guys are all top athletes. But that doesn't mean they all work equally as hard or take care of their bodies the same way.
