If Soria is the only other player they got, this was not a well-managed trade deadline by this front office. You don't go all in on Berrios and not patch any of the other holes. Hoping they still have some moves pending.

#BlueJays are sending Arizona two players to be named in their trade for Joakim Soria. Deal is done per sources.

They didn't get anyone elite for the pen but they got arms that are better than what he had. Hopefully some of our guys are actually coming back.

Adam Cimber

Trevor Richards

Brad Hand

Joakim Soria

Holy overreact batman..this team does not have many holes....Pen still mainly. But they did add numerous pen arms, and a legit starter that we have for next year , with negotiating rights for an extension.

Assuming no further deals, the bullpen is:

Romano

Hand

Mayza

Cimber

Soria

Richards

Borucki

Saucedo

Snead

Hatch

One of Thornton or Dolis drops off?

Hatch and Thornton go to AAA imo.

Nate Pearson to the Pen now please.

We may also see Manoah go to the pen to limit his innings at some point. I think that's still a thing.

I don't mind the Berrios trade. SWR is likely over rated with a fastball that sits at 92 and Martin not displaying the ability to drive the ball so far as a 23 year old could possibly be a concern, but anything can happen. With Groshans and Orelvis having great developmental seasons, although expensive on paper, Martin was expensively expendable.

Berrios is going to love the clubhouse and the city. He's going to want to be a part of this team for the next five years at least. I'm confident we'll extend him.

What do you mean?

Cimber

Hand

Soria

Richards

Berrios

Dickerson

SIX viable MLB players brought in. They range from minor upgrades to significant improvements.

There really aren't any holes left on the roster. You could quibble about Biggio, or outfield defense, or a lockdown reliever, but the front office really did an admirable job improving the squad. A lot of work and a lot of trades.

And kept the farm mostly intact. Even with the loss of Martin and SWR, the farm is still deep, and can be replenished next year. It was a good balanced approach, keeping mind on continuing to build on this year and next, while making sure the prospect pipeline remained healthy.

This, and still a top 10 farm system, really puzzling post lol.

They couldn’t squeeze Rogers out of Min in the deal? Sure it was covered in relevant thread but tl;dr

Yeah seems weird he didn’t get traded. Definitely would have made the trade more palatable

Hope you're right on that extension, the market was expensive, especially arms.

This time of year he probably goes unclaimed, so that's good I wouldn't want to lose him for Soria, who was a... bizarre pickup.

Who gives a s*** about Jonathan Davis?

Guy earned his shot and has done nothing. I think it's over for him.
