MLB is f***ed if they try to suspend him. There is essentially zero evidence that he did anything illegal or wrong.

They won't suspend him, and the hard lefties will cry on tiktok videos, and it will be glorious.

MLB has their own set of rules. There's no law against writing homophobic slurs in your eyeblack, but MLB was still able to punish Escobar.

No, he didn't do anything illegal, arguably, but the optics of having a guy on your team who enjoys beating women while having sex with them, isn't great.

Saying the N word on the phone to your girlfriend, isn't illegal either, but the NBA still managed to ban that guy for life.

It will be interesting to see what the Dodgers do. Looks like he has roughly $65 million owed to him between 2022 and 2023. That's a lot of cash to eat for a guy you don't want to put on the roster.

Do they play him or trade him for pennies on the dollar? Then again, Bauer really faded after the resin change, so maybe he'll be crap and none of this will matter.

Yeah if they try to suspend him they are really playing with fire. If anything, the most they'll do is say he committed some sort of minor violation of the code of conduct and that he's suspended with time served along with some sort of fine. He'll appeal and win eventually, whether it's through the appeal process or in court.

I can't wait for the Sheryl Ring article!

Yeah, he’ll get dinged for conduct unbecoming of a player or something but it’s not going to be anything that will go past “time served”. Pretty solid comeback video there, someone will take him after all the $ gets worked out with LAD

Yes - MLB's decision on whether to suspend him is distinct from individual (or collective) team decisions on whether to employ him.

I could see him never getting suspended but also never getting a job. Blacklisted.

Wtf happened to my post. Who did this?

It was deleted probably just because it quoted connorp's post. Mods didn't want connorp's tasteless post visible.

He’s too good, and just not enough there imo. He’ll definitely be off the board for a number of teams though

Warrants a ban if it's that bad

If you know legal jargon, “selective enforcement” is a thing. Notice Spanky’s post to start it was also deleted

Hard to imagine Bauer throwing another pitch in MLB again. Likely facing a lengthy suspension - with the lockout his suspension might not start until the beginning of 2023. If he does pitch again it wouldn't be until 2024.

I predict that Bauer will be deemed so innocent that the league invents a time machine to go back to 2021, unsuspend him, and re-do the season from the point he got suspended. Dodgers will be forced to play him or the team folds.

He won't be blacklisted by all teams. Someone (like the Rangers) will almost certainly be willing to run him out there if the price is right. There definitely WILL be teams who will cross him off the list though. This is going to cost him a fortune in future contracts, but he'll still be in the majors and pitching.

I’m sure his lawyers didn’t want him spiking the football but can’t blame him. The smugness wanted to explode out of him lol.

cant blame him at all

I haven't see anyone reference Koby Bryant RIP. There is and should be parallels.

Almost 20 years ago. Professional sports associations treat these things different now.

Need help - not sure who or what you're referencing and when I google it, I just get pages and page about Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant was accused of rape during the peak of his career. Similar circumstances. A "fan" came on to him, they went up to his room, had supposedly consensual sex and she left all good. Then all of a sudden she accused him or rape.

Are you sure your "facts" are correct?

My point is Jim, is that there was a similar allegation against a superstar. It even involved rough sex and strangulation. Kobe was not convicted in a criminal court and after the allegations, Bryant signed a seven-year contract valued at $136 million over seven years and was still sponsored by Nike, Coca-Cola and other major companies.

Now, people are speculating Bauer won't even be allowed to play baseball?

Their speculation is based upon preconceived notions that Trevor is a racist misogynistic homophobe because he doesn’t lick the establishment’s nuts

Bauer is also a white male. Not what you want to be nowadays

You didn't make this point in your post. Bryant paid $2.5M to settle the civil suit and issued an apology for his actions.

Also what happened 20 years ago is different circumstances and a different time.

We will see how MLB handles this. I do think Bauer pitches in MLB again, but he will be tarnished, subject to abuse from fans, and shunned by many teammates.
