I'm not surprised at all that his administrative leave is not factoring into his suspension given that he was actually being paid during the admin leave.

Wow MLB really hates Bauer.

For comparison, Ozuna got 20 games. German got 81.

José Torres (100 games), Odúbel Herrera (85 games), and Héctor Olivera (82 games)—all of whom, were charged with crimes.

I was going to compare the suspensions too. This is ridiculous and the MLB surely took advantage of an opportunity to unfairly punish a player they clearly dislike.

I wonder if this is another case of politics influencing Mandred’s decision. If he goes light ESPN plus all the Sheryl Ring’s and Keith Law’s will lose their marbles on him.

So he goes heavy handed and just lets Bauer appeal. If Bauer wins Manfred still looks tough so it’s probably a smart move for Manfred personally.

I guess white men don't always get preferential treatment.

Wow. I can't see Bauer coming back from this. Soonest he can come back is May (?) 2024 and by then he'll be 33 with nearly 3 years of missed time. Combine that with the PR stench that would come with signing him, and I don't think any team looks at him as being worth the trouble.

This suspension is ridiculous.

We might want to listen to King more often you guys! He knows his stuff!

It's still to be determined whether he ever pitches again, which is what the claim was. I will admit this is a much more substantial suspension than I was excepting given MLBs track record. But I'm not yet willing to say we'll never see him again.

Bauer should start finding other leagues to play in. perhaps the Barrie Baycats? Not sure he will be allowed into Canada though...

Holy f***ing s***! Is this true?

You want to roster deadweight until 2024?

Did you not read above? Sheryl Ring said the suspension will be until the end of 2023.

Sheryl Ring is one of the few people providing unbiased coverage of the proceedings. If you read the article I posted, Sheryl writes about mistakes that Bauers camp made, the accusers camp made as well as mistakes from the judge.

Could you please refer to Sheryl by her proper pronouns?

Holy s***! Bauer vs Ring?

Really can't see Bauer playing another MLB game at this point. Might be an early retirement - No need to play Indy ball when you've already got that much money in the bank. I doubt any teams in Korea or Japan would be interested as well.

Sources tell me it's likely Bauer won't be playing in the MLB again.

Hard to imagine Bauer throwing another pitch in MLB again. Likely facing a lengthy suspension - with the lockout his suspension might not start until the beginning of 2023. If he does pitch again it wouldn't be until 2024.

As I've said all along it seems like his playing days in the MLB are over. Might be able to catch on in an independent league or over in Asia.

Bauer is done in the MLB

Bauer will never play another MLB game again.

If he loses the appeal he probably just signs in Korea or Japan this year and finished his career there. I think they’ve basically torched his career.

I don't think his suspension is fair and it will most likely be reduced.

If a shitbag like Ozuna gets to play right now after 20 games, then why does Bauer get more?

Marcelo Ozuna with his hands around her neck

Bauer’s suspension should clearly be 300 more games than this

Manfred pulling strings for the Dodgers. Simple as that.

It’s pretty clear. The rest of 2022 and 2023 to get them out of his contract, then a month tacked on for plausible deniability.

Manfred would have acted on the recommendations of the independent investigators. He's not going to torpedo MLB's defence of its position by making an "executive decision".

Imagine the offseason shopping spree they get to go on now with 40M off the books? Go Dodgers go!!

I've certainly leaned to the Bauer side in all of this (and think that's a crazy suspension), but the assault comparable don't really match up to an assault & rape charge. If that's what MLB thinks happened, then it should be more than the various assaults. I'm not convinced that's what happened, but the comparisons aren't exactly apples to apples

Everyone on this board owes Sheryl Ring an apology, who got blasted despite being 100% correct.

Bauer is done.
