You yank him when you have suitable players to take his place. When your bullpen is a disaster like ours is currently, you ride your starters. It's pretty straight forward actually. Our management seems to think all bullpen arms are made equally.

Well Toronto's mostly are. A bunch of replacement level relievers!

Tellez you donkey

Workman pitched Tellez exactly how I always say every opponent should pitch him. Don't throw him a single pitch in the zone for the entire at-bat and watch as he strikes himself out nearly every single time.

So we let Strip face the top of the order the 3rd time through, but not the number 7 hitter?

Good point. Only rebuttal is the leverage was higher

I think, in this case, this is another one to chalk up most of the blame to Montoyo, both, because Stripling and a reliever with more control are better choices than Chatwood.

This.

Nah I still think Chatwood has to be one of their four best active relievers. The tough thing is you have to keep rolling him out there so he can figure it out. Not saying this was the spot though. Clean innings ideal. But I don't know... say you are pulling Strip, who do you bring in instead? Payamps pitches last night and so did Castro. Thornton?

You are obviously right, but I am playing off of emotions. It also legitimately makes me feel better to blame Montoyo for everything.

He used to have a decent eye and decent plate discipline

Yep, he fell for every single Tellezism. High FB above the zone, followed by low breaking ball darting into his feet. Easy K.

The high fastball is a new weakness, I think. A glaring flaw in 2021 that I did not notice previously.

Riley raise that trade value!!!

Your time here is limited. You might get dealt for a reliever tomorrow

I thought he had that weakness in 2019 and prior, bit I could be wrong. Definitely punching his ticket to AAA with each K.

With the velocity dip from Castro on back to back days would they pitch him a 3rd in a row?

No, doubt it. They'll use Mayza/Dolis and Romano.
