polar bear Verified Member Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 Without Yates Merryweather Springer and a healthy Pearson, Tampa is just a better team And they have a manager who makes the most of what they have instead of squandering it A healthy Pearson adds absolutely nothing to this team.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 A healthy Pearson adds absolutely nothing to this team. and Vlad was never going to be great just 10 months ago. People throwing the towel in on Pearson make me laugh.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 Anyone think Tampa is still paying Charlie to blow games against them? I would think that if he didn't manage so poorly against every AL East team

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Anyone think Tampa is still paying Charlie to blow games against them? I would think that if he didn't manage so poorly against every AL East team Tampa barely pays anyone who is actually on their team.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Thurs vs Boston: 94.7% peak win probability - Loss Fri vs TB: 83.6% peak win probability - Loss Sun vs TB: 93.0% peak win probability - Loss Yikes, that explains a lot. What a fugly stretch late in games.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Spanky even hates him. That says it all lol... this is very true. Taking out Chatwood for Bergen and not having Romano ready was egregious as it comes. f*** leave Chatwood in then. C'mon Bergen suxxxxx, b2b terrible outings in high leverage, not to mention his BB/9. Dude's middle relief at best.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Grichuk will never change, he is who he is. Let's not be fooled by his next hot streak. We still angry at Grichuk after his 2 for 4 with a homer game? lol... *crickets*
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Just a thought here and maybe this has been the front offices thinking all along but the next manager of the Blue Jays should be John Schneider. He has won a championship at every level he has managed with the jays(Vancouver, Lansing and New Hampshire). Maybe they wanted him to get a couple seasons in the majors as a bench coach before handing him the reigns. If that is the plan they should expedite it ASAP. If it isn’t they should seriously consider it. I agree.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Shatkins needs to consider letting Montoya go soon and just hand it over to Schneider. It appears that it was the plan all along so might as well get it over with since this is easily a playoff team with proper guidance and a few healthy bodies back.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 f*** me, just when I thought bumblef*** Charlie couldn't get any dumber, he totally one ups himself in grand fashion. I get that Chatwood wasn't his usual lights out self, but Chatwood on a bad day is still a far better choice than bringing in rule 5 re-retread Travis Bergen. I can understand why Charlie would be gunshy after watching Dolis melt down earlier in the week, but you really need to have your best remaining reliever up in the pen as backup in a situation like this. Bergen really struggled with his command in his previous outing, and there was no surprise he struggled with the bases loaded as well. Is this really the guy you want to bring into a game with the highest possible leverage? Like how many times can one manager manage to make the wrong decisions that directly lead to losses in one week?

Was he not available, I saw him walking around in the pen juggling his ball in glove? That usually means he's available, Bergen's not a late inning pitcher, his K/BB is atrocious, head scratcher no doubt.

Atkins can't say enough good things about Chuckles, hence the extension. I don't see him going anywhere, anytime soon. Hope I'm wrong, man.

Hope I'm wrong, man. I hope your incorrect as well but also have my doubts. Charlie's only redeeming quality seems to be his "niceness" and sunny disposition, but this team desperately needs an MLB quality manager, not a goddamn cheerleader.
