Yes, Spank, I voted Manoah before my post.

Like guys who stay on the field. All my buddies, yes I do have them, who played ball growing up were trying to think of how often they ever got hurt playing ball. I mean once spring came and school was over we played three games a day, morning, afternoon, and evening. Maybe just the passage of time, but I don’t recall anyone getting hurt, nor does anyone else.

Man, those were the days. We outgrew the field we started on, too many windows as we got a little stronger. Damn neighbors!

Why so facetious man, I asked a yes no question? I enjoyed that finale. Personally, I shut up about injury, just to play. It happens in the bigs far more often.

You might want to read my reply one more time, Spank. Nothing facetious about it. You asked a yes or no question, I gave a yes or no answer.

Jeez.

My bad, read it wrong brosoff.

I think Pearson may have a bit more potential and long term upside than Manoah, but Pearson has also has a well-documented injury history and he just can't seem to stay healthy. Comparatively, Manoah is a horse who doesn't overthrow his capability, stays healthy and so far in the minors he gets the job done. There have been plenty of top prospects who flamed out at the major league level fo a variety of reasons. At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter a lick how much potential both pitchers have, or how fast they light up the radar gun. The only things that really matter at the major league level are:

1) How consistent is any given player from game to game, from month to month and from season to season?;

2) How well does a give player stay healthy and take care of his body and mind?;

3) Does the player have personal demons like lack of confidence, bad temper, booze/drug addictions or abuse issues

(think Roberto Osuna, who as of May 15th, 2021 still doesn't have a contract for 2021) which will sooner or late cause him

to flame out?;

4) Whether or not any given player can get the job done between he lines.

5.) Is the player a good teammate, or a selfish, egotistical jerk like Barry Bonds? Teams will overlook a selfish player as long as he keeps producing. But once that player cools off at the plate or can't get his pitches over for strikes, he'll be gone as soon as it can be arranged.

There have been plenty of "practise tigers" ove rthe years who look really good between starts or in practise when there's no presure on them. But or whatever reason(s), he just can't make the leap from AAA to MLB. Generally speaking, if a player hasn't made it to the big leaguies by age 27, he's probably going to be a career minor leaguer. There's no shame in that; only the best of the best get to be superstars in any occupation.

Manoah should be licking his chops with his start lined up with certified shitballer Stripling. At this point I'd be pretty surprised if he isn't up in the next few weeks

Manoah looks like a boss on the mound. Built like unit. Goes right after people like an alpha. Pearson needs a beard for sure. Baby face ain’t working for him.

Stripling is not a shitballer. He has a 3.68 career xFIP. He is unlucky so far this year to the tune of a 0.393 BABIP

He is now. I’m not sure what happened since he left the Dodgers but he’s a liability as a starter right now.

He split time as a starter and a reliever. It's easier to have a lower xFIP as a reliever when you're not facing an order 3 times in a night. He's also had some injuries. He's only pitched 457 innings for his career. That's just over 2 season's for a starter. It's entirely possible the league has made adjustments to what he was doing and what made him successful in his early years. His xFIP is well over 4 the last 2 years. Of course, not having a pitcher to strike out doesn't help things either. I'll give him a couple more starts, but he might just not be as good as I had hoped for. Hopefully he can turn it around.

About Manoah last night:

Across three starts, he’s struck out 27 in 18 innings, allowing one run on seven hits and three walks. That’s man against boys stuff, and his arrogant strutting around the mound irked the Worcester hitters, Danny Santana in particular, who chirped the six-foot-six righty as they battled in the sixth inning (Manoah broke Santana’s bat but his flare touched green in left for a single).

Love this kind of attitude in a pitcher

The Manoah transformation is amazing. 2nd picture looks much more like a starting pitcher I'd rather have on the team.

Guys, relax... both will be excellent relievers.

Better then Brett Cecil and Osuna combo in 2015? Actually Sanchez was a good reliever that year too.

Yup. If you don't like it as a hitter, get a hit or draw a walk...then chirp back. Works both ways.
