TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 This is ODT #1 (off-day thread #1) but it's the fourth off-day of the season. Thought this could be a fun new tradition on days when the Blue Jays aren't playing. Around Baseball is always there but these threads will try to spotlight a few major storylines or games to follow on off-days when there isn't much else to do and provide a dedicated game thread for those matches. Feel free to offer suggestions for other games or storylines you think should be included in the main post and I'll update accordingly. Today's spotlights are on Shohei Ohtani, who becomes the first player to start a game while leading the majors in home runs since Babe Ruth, the Yankees vs Orioles AL East on AL East game and a showcase of two potential future aces in Trevor Rogers and Corbin Burnes.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Ohtani is a special talent. Definitely looking forward to his start tonight.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 With all three of those games running around the same time, I'm probably going to be focusing on the Marlins/Brewers game. Haven't watched either pitcher before and they're both having bonkers seasons. Burnes especially.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Will be watching Ohtani. I’ve seen his first two starts, and he just looks rusty. Top tier stuff, but no command. He hasn’t pitched consistently in years and it shows. If he can settle in this year, he could put up one of the most fun seasons ever.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Is Yelich going to be OK?? what happened to his K%?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Trout says he expects to play tonight
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Trout says he expects to play tonight Rendon's back, booyah! Great day for Mike's Bikes!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Great day for Mike's Bikes! Nice, I should be getting Altuve back today, too... Booyah!
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Ohtani and Rendon all the way, though I did start Lyles in DDL.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Good start for Deivi Garcia against the Orioles.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 Harvey's been sloppy tonight but the Yankees haven't capitalized.
Show Hey Verified Member Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Ohtani is a special talent. Definitely looking forward to his start tonight. He's a baseball player. A real pro.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 Chisolm with just a hideous hit to get on against Burnes.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 Wait, this dude has blue hair.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Ohtani and fishman on for Rendon
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 It’s nice when your pitcher gets your first run before he even gets on the mound
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Ohtani has had awful command all year long.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 This is a nightmare for LA since in taking him out you're losing one of your best hitters and the pitchers have to hit going forward.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 He’s been dealing with a blister since his first start, but if he can’t even throw it down the middle it’s kinda alarming
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Most of the damage was self inflicted lol
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Well at least he does that well lol. That was a missile into the RF corner.
