    All marquee players must only play on teams that are 1) wealthy, and 2) "storied". It's good for baseball.

    We'll find out soon enough how the team shapes up for 2024, but what is the likelihood that Atkins/Shapiro are feeling pressured to do "something big"? Obviously, no signing would be as big as Ohtani, but with last year's team being pretty boring and uninspiring (especially to casual fans), what are the chances management maintains the desire to do "something big" and tries to pull of a massive trade for star power that nobody saw coming?

    With Conforto being antivax, how much does that play into other teams wanting to sign him? Particularly AL East teams. Say the Yankees were interested. Not only would they be losing a pick, they'd also be giving a lot of money to a significant bat who couldn't travel to Toronto with them.

    Right. I'm thinking if they were only allowed to have 5 SP on the roster or something. Would teams still use one of those spots for a guy who's just an opener?

    Could they not just get rid of openers by making a rule that all pitchers on the roster must be classified as either SP or RP and only SP can start games? Maybe there's a reason that wouldn't work. I don't know.
