Same people who were so happy with the Yates signing but didn't want Paxton make no sense. Sucks to see the Canadian go down.

I would have been happy with both. I had no problem with the Yates gamble. Looked like Paxton's back tightened up. Hopefully he can make it back. Good dude, great talent. Just has a hard time staying on the mound.

Did it make sense that we're trotting Roark out there? Most wanted another pitcher to take him out of the rotation. Didn't have to be only Paxton for me. Anyone would have done lol.

Now we'll tank another 2 starts or so of his useless ass until we trade for a real pitcher.

lol... plays heartache...

I don't know that there was anyone who didn't want Paxton. Nobody would have been complaining if they signed him for 1/12 or whatever New York gave him. A lot of people just weren't upset that Toronto didn't sign him, because they realized that Toronto's front office likely thought his medicals were a horror show.

Ya listened to an interview of his and how he would have loved to play for the Jays but no offer was made. Hopefully this is nothing and he can stay healthy for the year. Gotta support the few Canadians there are.

It took Buck all of 5 games to tell us that Grichuk's made adjustments to his approach and is a new hitter. Whether it's Pillar or Grichuk, I'm fairly sure Buck's states that yearly.

Don't get me wrong - when Randell is hot, he's awesome - but we know what he is (a really good 4th OFer).

Think you're talking about Kluber there. It's a similar situation. I probably should have stayed out of their back and forth since I wanted any pitcher (including Paxton) that would have bumped Roark out of the rotation.

We gambled on Yates who failed his physical and it wouldn't surprise me that Paxton was in the same boat after only signing for 1/8.5.

He really does. They are squaring him up with ease. He is hanging his curve consistently. Darvish even gave it a ride.

Same people that were vocal for Paxton trashed the Matz pickup.

With the exception of the true elites, it just shows that pitching is a total crapshoot. For every Matz (assuming he remains good), there is a Roark/Anderson/Garcia. I guess all you can do is roll the dice on these types of pitchers and hope some pan out for the time you have them.

Lol it's always great hearing announcers make up crap as to why a particular player is playing better. The player can be doing the exact same thing when he's playing well or crap lol.

Every year we heard that about Pillar from Buck and Tabby when Pillar got a bit hot. He has a new leg kick. He gave up a leg kick. He has really been working at knowing the strike zone and pitch selection. etc etc. Every year his wRC+ would end up 85-90 ish.

I know it's early but I'd much rather not see another Roark start. I'd also be fine with Tellez being sent to the alternate site if he has an option left with Davis staying on the 26 man roster when Springer returns. I feel like the DH spot will be more valuable rotating the OF foursome through it than letting Tellez rack up at bats.

Me. Told everyone multiple times there’s a reason he had contract incentives that kick in after 10 starts. Massive red flag

Just caught the replay and Roark just looks plain cooked. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt since 2020 affected a lot of starters who normally are reliable, but he actually looks done. He was missing his spots left and right and was basically just throwing glorified BP.

I wonder where they go from here. They could look to trade him for a reclamation project earning an equivalent salary. I remember Drew Storen was pretty terrible with us in 2016 and they were able to flip him for Joaquin Benoit who turned out being good. They could put him in long relief in blow outs. My guess is he probably gets another start, but he really doesn't deserve it at all.

You make sense of why a lot of pitchers are so volatile from year to year. The same management is responsible for some gems and for some abysmal signings. This is something very unique to baseball that most cant seem to master. Not everyone can be the Rays.

At least we didn’t have to actually pay him the full 24 million. Last season he would have earned something like 5ish of the 12 million due to the short season.

Hes the 3rd highest paid player on the team man. Things are clearly not fair lol.

it's saskjayfan....Yes I saw that. Cheering against a good Canuck is awful.

Thing is you've ripped apart this front office, and tended your *******, and following into a saber bowl. I love y'all... (lets hug)

I was pretty amazed how critical Siddel and Campbell were last night (and rightly so)

We need Ray and Pearson back

Can we bump Roark from the rotation if only 1 is back in a timely manner?

Ryu and Matz appear to be the only locks. After that it's Stripling and Zeuch. Is Zeuch going to stick and provide enough innings regularly? Is Stripling better than Roark as a starter going forward or is he better out of the pen? Do they let them all go a couple more times before deciding?
