TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 It's a new year and a new General Discussion Thread. Surprised this hasn't been refreshed yet but seems like now is as good a time as any with some major moves happening around the Blue Jays and plenty of rumors for more.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Author Posted January 21, 2021 (edited) Hah... I've actually noticed this constantly over the years. Seems very common for Jays players to be in the most searched list. I guess it makes sense, Toronto teams seem to have one of the largest online fanbases of any city. I guess it makes sense, Toronto teams seem to have one of the largest online fanbases of any city. It probably has little to do with the city itself, at least for baseball. The Jays are Canada's team.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 lol... why do you always slag Toronto? I think that the majority of the online presence and TV viewership comes from outside of the city. We have a unique situation amongst MLB teams, an entire country backs the team. That shouldn't be seen as a criticism of the city, but the team wouldn't exist if it was just Toronto.

The Iceman Verified Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Front office in their year end press conference stated 2 priorities to improving the team. Reduce walks...signed Ray and Chatwood. HMMMM, bad start here. Improve defense Signed Springer...great start. Now how about go sign Andrelton Simmons and move Bichette to 2nd base and Biggio to 3rd. Bichette could learn from the best. Sign Molina to a short term deal to split catching duties. Defense up the middle would be as good as any team in MLB. The corners would need a little work. The team would be much improved without a significant $$$ spend.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Sign Molina to a short term deal to split catching duties. !!!!!!
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 lol... You support the team and don't live in the city, same for me. Nationwide support is a strength of the team in my eyes. I'm puzzled by your attitude.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Sign Molina to a short term deal to split catching duties. I’m down. We had his 2 brothers as well. Its his turn. Also Chatwood is probably destined for the bullpen where hes shown much better command. I don’t even know why the Cubs bothered putting him back in the rotation.

I'm puzzled by your attitude. Grant as I said, you've slagged my city plenty of times in the past, so that rubs me wrong. Born and Raised in East York, dude. Also, we all know the Jays are Canada's team, our city supports the team just fine, same with when they get an NFL team here eventually, Toronto's a large market sport scene.

Hahaha Toronto will never get a NFL team, give your head a shake. You guys are barely hanging on to the Argo's

RobinThicc Verified Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Imagine thinking Toronto couldnt support a baseball team on its own lol.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Does anyone care about the CFL? Only if you live in Hamilton, Regina or Winnipeg I think
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Does anyone care about the CFL? No lol.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 The claim that the entire country supports the Blue Jays is something I don’t really agree with. Plenty of Tigers fans in Windsor-Essex county. Still a fair number in London-Middlesex too. I would assume that there are a number of Mariners fans in BC as well. Then you have Quebec where a lot of people will not convert to supporting a Toronto team after the Expos left. Yes, there are a lot of Blue Jay fans across Canada. But not all Canadian baseball fans like the Blue Jays. lol... obviously not. What's going on today? Geez...
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Does anyone care about the CFL? Not really...except for a few. People that care about the CFL are like vegans. They'll never miss an opportunity to tell you about their allegiance.

But not all Canadian baseball fans like the Blue Jays. Here in Atlantic Canada there are enough Red Sox fans (and worse yet even more Patriots fans) that you can get a little angry at times
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Fewer Patriots fans all of a sudden this year Not sure why...
