It has been reported that the Jays are trying to work out a trade for Hendricks and Bryant from the Cubs. If this happens, are folks happy?

Hendricks would be a solid #2 SP IMO.

Meh. Pretty inconsequential tweet. Toronto is probably one of those teams that talks about everything realistic with every other team.

I know, man. Trust me. I was just throwing that hypothetical out there for opinions.

Exactly

AA clearly did the same (call every team about anyone who might be available) but we just didn't hear about it as much

This possibility has been discussed at length on the board already. Depending on the cost, it would obviously be a great fit for the team - even with the likelihood that Bryant would leave as a FA next year (we'd collect the pick after offering him a QO).

Okay, well that trade would be fantastic for the 2021 squad. Opinions on the trade will depend on what they give up though!

Oh shoot, if this has already been discussed I will need to delete my OP.

If the Jays sign Gregorius, I can't wait to hear Buck have an aneurysm everytime he tries to pronounce it.

Lol no kidding, I can see everywhere from Gregorigoridius, to Grigamordians, Grigoranas, etc.

Depends Buck starts off pretty sober early in the game, but by the 6th he is full Harry Doyle out of it lol

Scott Mitchell isn't terrible but if TSN is reporting on baseball i am generally not listening.

And IIRC Scott Mitchell has been terrible in the past. More recently he has been fine / a normal reporter.

Also if he has a solid but not amazing season he might accept said QO and he's ours for 2 years at ~ 19M per season

With all those quality infielder free agents next year he might not like his chances with draft pick compensation attached going in to what will be his age 30 season

(although realistically if he's a least good this year he prob gets a decent multi year offer)

Paxton would be great

Been on my want list too

Would we want a 1 year deal like everyone else? 8-10M?? Or do we want a 2 year deal betting he'll be really good?

One with an option year?

Sold!

1 year 8M guarantee

2nd year 9M with a 1.5M buyout

If he’s going to do 1 year deal it’ll prob be something like that (depending where health is at) but I think he can get one easy enough without offering a team cheap option

I see more like a 1 x $12 million

If Happ and Robbie Ray get $8 Paxton gets $12

And Tanaka $15

Yeah he might get 10-12 especially on a pure 1 year deal

We kept Ray and he'll start

We signed a swing type guy in Chatwood who will hopefully pitch mostly out of the bullpen

We signed a 9th inning guy in Yates

We need at least one more dependable starter for sure
