Why is it that the Jays d9nt seems to want to finish second. What am I missing?

Man, everything looks right in the scoreboard (Indians losing, Yankees losing), yet the Jays had to throw Roark/Guch out there to f*** everything up.

I think they just wanted to rest our key pitchers. If they didn't care about winning this one Gurriel wouldn't be playing and Panik would be in the lineup.

Why bring in Yamaguchi in the most important relief outing so far this season???

His contract runs until the end of the 2023 season, and then he has a year of arbitration. In baseball arbitration means the team and the player negotiate a 1-year contract by comparing his performance to other players and the contracts those guys got at the same stage in their career. If the two sides don't come to an agreement then they submit a figure of what they think he's worth and a mediator/arbitrator decides which of the two figures - the one submitted by the team and the other by the player - is fairer value.

 

TL;DR: he's a free agent at the 2025 season.

You guys need to relax about the seeding, it's interesting to talk about the possible matchups but theyre all very tough teams and its probably better to face them in a short 3 game series where anything can happen than for them to see our 4th starter and overworked pen in a 5 game series.

 

We played Tampa very tough, their offense isn't the yankees dodgers or Braves. They have a chance.

I think coaches and Mgm have underestimated the Trop factor for us in laying up on today. I get their rationale with the arms. I do. It’s a tough one. But our history there is just pain and misery. Not playing them there in round 1 has upside. 6 more outs to win this. Let’s do it.
