Scion Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Someone explain this DH thing to me. Do the Red Sox now have to use a different PH the rest of the way in the DH slot?
Dokken Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 It would be nice if we could get the Borucki from the first 9 innings this season. He looked sharp there in the 8th. May as well leave him in for the 9th
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Someone explain this DH thing to me. Do the Red Sox now have to use a different PH the rest of the way in the DH slot? Their catcher got injured and their backup was the DH (Vazquez) so they had to forfeit the DH so that Vazquez can play the field. So any time that Plawecki's spot comes to the plate it's actually the pitcher's spot, so unless they want the pitcher to hit they need to pinch hit every time.
Dokken Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Someone explain this DH thing to me. Do the Red Sox now have to use a different PH the rest of the way in the DH slot? yes, but it's not the DH position - if you shift your DH over to play a position, the spot in the order for the player the DH replaced (Plawecki) becomes the pitcher's spot NL style
el duque Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Wouldn't surprise me in the least... Alex Cora was with the Astros and then with the Red Sox
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Yesterday: Pitchers used today: Ray Font Hatch Cole Borucki Dolis
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 So if Dolis doesn’t have it here, who do we go to?? Bad move IMO, would have stayed with Borucki
bronson44 Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 We might need Ryu to throw over 100 pitches tomorrow. Gasp
Dokken Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 ffs.. that can't happen - Buck Martinez ETA Buck right on the money this time! Little League ******** out there.
el duque Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 that play reminded me Pillar's-Tulowitzki collision a few years back
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Dolis being less infuriating than usual today. That's refreshing.
el duque Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Dolis is doing a good job as closer until Giles return
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Finally f***ing over. That took forever and was way WAY more stressful than it needed to be when we had a 6 run lead at one point...
bronson44 Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Starting to really like Dolis
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 lol finally. Now lets lets out of this old dump.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 I'd give Dolis a 3 year extension just for getting us a clean, stress free 1-2-3 9th inning. My god am I glad for us to be out of this park.
Dokken Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Finally f***ing over. That took forever and was way WAY more stressful than it needed to be when we had a 6 run lead at one point... stress for the fans is probably ok as long as they win. BUT this has to be emotionally draining on the players eventually. I guess the upside, it will feel like they have been playing playoff baseball since end of July - assuming they get to the post-season, so all these young players might be less intimidated.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Longest 9 inning game in Blue Jays history Heard from Wilner the Red Sox also threw the most # of pitches in a game since 1978
bronson44 Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Heard from Wilner the Red Sox also threw the most # of pitches in a game since 1978 Including extra inning games?
Dokken Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 that play reminded me Pillar's-Tulowitzki collision a few years back It was more like a play with the Cubs a few years back that, as I recall, led to the left fielder Kyle Scharber missing most of the season with a knee injury.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Breathe. Nice job to hang on. I am going to need to get a prescription of something for this yankee series.
Dokken Verified Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Breathe. Nice job to hang on. I am going to need to get a prescription of something for this yankee series. Not to mention 10 of the remaining 20 games against the Yanks. At least 7 of the games are going to be in Buffalo.

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 I didn't think I'd say this but it might be time to move Panik up in the lineup until he starts to cool off. You gotta really hand it to the hitting coach tandem of Martinez/Bichette, many of the young players have taken big leaps forward, and they've managed to get some of the old veterans straightened out as well.

Nope lets relax hes fine where he is in the lineup

Panik has been around for a long time (since 2014, anyway)! He is more used to having a 162 game season to get things rolling. Here's an interesting tidbit: in 2014-2017, Panik had 1818 total PA and 8.9 fWAR in 2018-2020, he has had 962 PA and only 0.4 fWAR. Just to clarify, he will turn 30 yo on Oct 30th Edited September 7, 2020 by Dokken
