Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 This at bat might be for Tellez's blue jay career...
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Panik with 2 basehits, he isn't going anywhere, lol. C'mon Rowdy!

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 LOL Panik walks to third Vetrin presents
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Holy f*** Rowdy. Stop swinging at s*** That was a horrible AB. He struck out on 6 pitches, none of them were strikes and only one was competitive.

Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 I still think we're gonna make the playoffs. In fact I'm gonna put money on it
Scion Verified Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 The depth on this team sucks. We are running out a handful of replacement level players or worse every night with these injuries.
Perfect Game Verified Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 That's what happens when Ex Player hijacks the GDT the day after a win.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 That's what happens when Ex Player hijacks the GDT the day after a win. He also called us The Buffalo Blue Jays. Even the Blue Jays Twitter account yells at people for doing that.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 I thought it had a nice ring to it No it sucks. Just like you suck flor this losing GDT effort. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Perfect usage of this gif. I now feel a little better.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 My casual humor has failed. The thread lies in ruins

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 I thought it had a nice ring to it The ironic thing is, there was a time not too long ago when the people in Buffalo thought there would be the Toronto Bills. Now years later, it is the Buffalo Blue Jays and Toronto still doesn't have an NFL team..LOL
WILLIEUPSHAW Verified Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Font probably shouldn't have been allowed to face 5 batters. In hindsight, pulling your veteran starter after he surrendered his first walk of the night and was facing the bottom of the order might not have been ideal. Understatement of the year. Didn't the Jays acquire this guy because he was (like Roark) a decent vet who could go out and give you 6 ip with around 4.50 ERA. So of course Chuckles has to pull him after only 83 pitches when the pitching staff is depleted and team in the middle of 28 days (or whatever) without an off day. I am agreeing with the consensus, that bozo needs to be gone at the end of the season. Font blew big time tonight, but I would also point out that Cole (who had been quite effective entering this game) surrendered the big blow with the 3 run triple (3 inherited base runners all scoring) then allowed 1 more run charged to himself. Had he got the job done (albeit in a horrendous situation with based loaded 1 out), Jays win. Maybe they should go back to trying Font as an opener (had a good run in that role last season), and if he still sucks, then pull the plug. The problem is that in this short season, there is no time to 'experiment' to see what will work. I think we should all just tone down our expectations, since taking the 8th seed and getting creamed by the A's , Rays or Yanks isn't going to do much for fan enthusiasm ( considering the need to build the excitement for when the fans are finally allowed to attend games again). By the way: interesting that, even after today's disaster, Wilmer has an xFIP of 4.54 despite an elephantine ERA of 11.00.

To be fair, he induced a GB that was headed straight to Vladdy, either the ball hit the lip of the grass or a stone and ricocheted right over his head, he did his job, just was untimely s*** luck. Look at that play again, normally that's a DP or he gets out of it giving up one run scored. I think we'll see an MLB team in Mexico City before we see an NFL team here, but I hope I'm wrong

I think we'll see an MLB team in Mexico City before we see an NFL team here, but I hope I'm wrong Toronto would have to build a $500M stadium for a team to play 17 (or whatever the ridiculously short NFL season is) games a season. I'm sorry, but like, hard pass for my tax dollars being used for that.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 I don't know if it's been mentioned but the home plate umpire gets a huge assist in Boston's win last night. The Boston starter got the benefit of a massive strike zone with multiple pitches well off the plate called for strikes, and in my view the game totally turned around at the moment Vazquez received a reprieve when instead of being called out on strike 3 was given a chance to continue his at bat instead. Maybe Font still melts down afterwards anyway, but we'll never know for sure.
