A series split is a great result for the Jays at the Trop. No more games against the Rays the rest of the year!

Now let's pad this record against Boston and Baltimore.

Wendle could have easily broken his hand when Jansen dropped his knee blocking the plate. That's why you should slide hard feet first on close plays at home, go through his legs hard.

No that’s exactly what the catcher wants you to do. A lot of the time players try that and never even get to the plate. You just have so much more control with a head first slide. His only shot was sliding around home plate and slipping his hand across the plate.

Awesome win for the boys. Gurriel is amazing in left field, it's astounding how quickly he gets off his throws from the outfield, but despite the rapid transfer he fires accurate bullet throws almost every time. It's encouraging to see his bat heating up as well. Cavan Biggio is amazing, his diving play at 2nd base showed some serious range, and he's been a very steadying presence at the top of the lineup. Jordan Romano has the prototypical crazed closer look to him, he's very fun to watch. If this team can somehow find some starting pitching they could be an actual threat once Bo comes back.

Cavan Biggio now has a 153 wRC+ on the season and has cut his K% by 10% from last year, and is a Top 5 2B by DRS.

Over 162, with his performance this season, he's pacing for a 7.5 WAR season! Dude is insane.

Probably easier to break a hand, yeah, but we've seen players seriously f*** up their knees or ankles on aggressive feet first slides at home too and it's much harder to sneak a foot onto the edge of a plate.

But it's true that injury is more likely on a head first

https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0363546517704835

"The estimated overall frequency of injury in MLB was once per every 336 slides, and the rate of injury for head- and feet-first slides was 1 in 249 and 413 slides, respectively (P = .119)."

Other than the fact that we have no one to start against Eovaldi, this team is looking pretty good! I wonder how we're going to tackle that little issue.

I don't know if he's actually the best option but I'd be really interested to see if Joey Murray can hack it at the big league level. Statistically he had the best 2019 of any pitcher in the system including leading the organization in strikeouts. Finished the year with 43 innings at AA last year, so realistically he was probably tracking to debut late this season all this crap aside.

A Joey Murray or a Patrick Murphy might be the answer for a spot start. Teams won't have any information. I'm assuming they are stretched out and can give 5 innings unless they run in to trouble. The bullpen is taxed enough. Or they could trade for Trevor Bauer and start him. Any of those options would be fine..lol

That means the Jays don't need him and should trade him!

We wont get anything for him though, so maybe just ask for a bit of cash
