He’s predictable for one. Throw another fastball. Everyone watching knew a breaking ball was coming after the high fastball. That’s on Jansen as well tho.

 

He's only predictable because he's missing the command of his primary pitch. If Nate's fastball command was there he would be dominating, but as it stands he looks like he's only comfortable with the breaking stuff. His slider is a filthy pitch, and he's good enough to get by with only fastball-slider if it was his other pitches that he had no feel for.

Catchers sometimes call some off-speed to help the pitcher settle down when they can’t find their fastball command.

Yeah it's mostly fastball command for Nate. He hasn't found it yet this year. He's actually underthrowing sometimes to try to find the zone, which isn't helping things.

Espinal better turn into something because it still annoys me how much Steve Pearce helped the Red Sox. Similar to how I feel about Happ to the Yankees we got 2 dog s*** players from them when they seem to be able to find position players that can hit out of nowhere. Everyone they call up from their secondary sight seems to muder baseballs.
