Debating politics really brings out the worst in people

 

This is the main issue. I think the whole idea of OT-Politic was good for discussion, but in practice those topics walk a very fine line and it just went a little too far. It’s easy to get caught up in heated discussions.

 

I think when it starts creating an uncomfortable environment, and those feelings and discussions start appearing in other threads, it just needs to stop. There’s not just one single person’s fault here and guys just need to move on.

I'll start by saying this is not a response representing admin or the mod team. This one is 100% me.

 

* Mods please allow time for Boxy to read this takedown. This thread is away from the main threads and is made up of long time posters discussing issues the board has had and this is relevant to that. So I ask the courts to allow for argument*

 

LOL. Is this real life??! You're literally the only reason all this happened.

 

I'm not quitting the board because I'm pouting. I just genuinely enjoyed coming here and having intelligent debate with intelligent guys. It was a good way to occasionally break up the monotony of the work day. I'm sad I wont be able to anymore but I'm clearly the guy that is attached to a tree that's about to be bulldozed that nobody cares about. And that's fine. I do regret any part I had in this action as like with Spanky, all my shots about libs and all that was in good fun and I actually enjoyed conversing with all those guys. I wouldn't have wasted my time coming here if that wasn't the case.

 

I think almost all the offenders fall into the same category. Everyone can clearly concede it went to the far but honestly there was another alternative, which was to actually moderate the board and be ready to hand out bans and lifetime bans as needed. I think this would've worked for sure and I know it would've kept me in line. But there was going to be a Boxy problem and the mods knew it. You've proven time and again that a ban is just going to keep you in line for a short period of time, you come back with a grand speech about self-reflecting and you'll be better and then you slip back into it in a short period of time. You're the only internet bully on here that I can think of. You're an immature, insecure, self-loathing internet prick/bully. You cant even afford a $50 video game yet you look down on clearly intelligent guys (like they have degrees and good jobs only because they vote Hillary) like MAx/Jim and call them stupid and retards because they have a different viewpoint. But how can the mods moderate if they're unwilling to take the proper action again the A1 offender? So rather than be faced with the scenario where they may have to hand a lifetime ban to their good friend, they just deleted all the threads. IT's like the teacher that fails to control/discipline a kid and instead punishes the whole class because it's easier.

 

You think we're alike because we agree on 90% of topics but that just means we both wax conservative. I have an arguing style that can turn people off for sure but I don't have insecurity issues where I consider myself better than anyone and I don't need to belittle someone to justify my own existence. I know you hate the nickel booth shrink routine but you're just such a textbook case, even Lucy could nail it. I have my issues irl but at least I can acknowledge them.

 

 

 

I think having good OT discussions was healthy for the board. A lot of mlb boards are graveyards and I think part of this reason the board even made it tp this point was it was more than just guys sharing stats. So good job ruing that part of the board.

 

There are many forms of bullying. I do think Boxy was an offender. I also know that Boxy knows he was an offender. But there are very few innocent here (Blue Rocky and Todd maybe). Piling on people is form of bullying, as is encouraging it. Making a post on a board, which you have stated you do not wish to continue posting on, goading a rival who now can't respond is a form of bullying. I think you are one of the more intelligent people on this board so I probably have always seen everything you do as devious and well thought out, and you love the "debate" regardless of whether others do too. I think in some ways you and Boxy are similar. It's probably more a selfishness than anything else. I apologize if I was wrong. I'll throw my current response as one that is no longer acceptable as well.

 

As for our moderation of this board. I will 100% say I realize my faults here. I was a terrible mod. I protected those in the wrong because they were in the fantasy leagues or one of the opinions I respect on baseball terms. I have publicly stated many times that I love a good debate. I thought all activity was good activity. Instead of punishing the offenders I kept creating new playrooms where they could play away from the other kids thinking they would avoid those that wanted to discuss the things that this board was made for (Blue Jays and Baseball talk). Meanwhile, hardly anyone was talking baseball. The draft is one of the few times we have had good baseball talk.

 

Connor, I hope you continue to enjoy the fantasy pools and I'm not deleting your account so you can come back. The parting shots have to stop though.

You made it one lol before you had your first violation. In 2016 I decided to keep a folder of reported posts. Did a search of that folder and your name came up in over 60% of the emails. You are an issue for this board and we have given you special privileges. Tercet called us out on it over and over until it drove him to anger and insanity. I think we met for the first time over 10 years ago now, and judging by our circles of friends we probably knew each other long before these boards. But you are the bane of my moderator existence. If you can't control yourself from these unacceptable responses such as the ones above, do yourself a favour and stop posting on the main board. The slate is clean, but you have to wipe the slate clean too. Your past feuds, your little personal comments are done or you are.

I know I said I would post as myself and immediately went into passive aggressive mod guy. I don't like being a mod. I have tried to quit about 5 times now. But I do enjoy this community. I brag all the time to people that 3 members of our message board community went on to front office jobs in major league baseball. Through them I have met several other members of front offices. Could you imagine them bragging to their friends about current board being the place that helped to shape their baseball thoughts. I pimped this board every baseball place I was for 6 years. Last year when I recruited 2 people for BORED from another sports community, I told them to sign up just for the BORED thread and don't read the rest of the mess. I should have known then that it needed blowing up. Apathy is a bitch though.

On Canada's Birthday, you guys got together and decided to ban something. Call it what you will, it is just another ban. I had to remind myself in Canada you do not celebrate Independence day. You all enjoy being subjects of the Queen, or in this case Mods.

 

Connor was spot on when he said you guys decided to punish the whole class instead of deal with the actions of a few.

1. No one if forced to participate in the Politics thread, in the News Thread or any Corona Virus thread. To say the actions in those threads are affecting board participation IMO is a false flag.

 

2. BTS did/does a great job as a mod saying keep politics out of the baseball threads. That is all that is required and we could keep all other topic threads.

 

3. Talking about safe spaces due to action in threads NO one forces anyone to participate in on a baseball board? Laughable...

 

I have participated in those threads, never once did I feel unwelcome or personally attacked.

 

YOU know WHERE I felt attacked and not welcome?? In the BASEBALL threads by the Wolf guarding the Henhouse.

 

I was personally attacked for "being old School" and a long thread supporting the bunt. I was personally attacked and called names for my views on a lead off hitter.

 

I received PMs from Mods explaining - paraphrasing, this board is a saber board and guys with opinions like yours are not the norm.. Threatening to delete/close a thread advocating bunting... Not making that up.

 

I received PMs because I said Billy Bean got A## r##$ed in the Donaldson trade. When numerous, numerous posters use same or worse analogies or traped etc.

 

Never once did I not feel welcome or whatsoever due to OTHER TOPIC Threads.

 

I was also personally attacked in a Fantasy baseball thread, and the Roy Halladay thread... Both that have nothing to do with Politics etc.

I have admitted that I am a terrible moderator. In fact this all started because someone called me out for not walking the walk, from my real life to my moderation life. I'm giving everyone this board to ask the questions about acceptable and not acceptable posting. I think the NEW rules are pretty well set out. I think the Hurl has made it very clear the removal of those threads was just the first step. They will strictly forbid harassment and personal attacks. You can also help them by reporting these posts instead of responding to them in the future. It is okay to have different opinions. At least to me, it’s clear the mod team cares enough to make change.

How about your goal be not be banned at all. I asked a new poster about you as an issue on the board. Their response was he's very active and positive in the GDT's. I agree 100% there. Same can be said for your contributions to the Dynasty leagues, the sports threads too. There are probably many that see it that way. When you are attacked or even when someone you get along with is attacked, you attack back (you just did it to me now when you felt like I was attacking you) Again 60% of our reported posts are at one time about you. You have been banned more than anyone (and yes you took the non Swedish bans without complaint and without creating new accounts) but the behaviour has never changed. We can't have a zero tolerance on disrespect and let you continuing to disrespect posters, whether it is in good fun or a running joke for years. It makes my moderation job miserable (that isn't at you but everyone who won't be able to respect the rules). I spent too many hours now trying to diffuse people like Tercet only to be attacked myself. Not just here but in my social media life which is my professional life. The rules are set out. Hopefully we can get some baseball happening and see if we can remain respectful.

Never changed? I beg to differ, I mellowed out... having someone slander me as someone else in real life, of course I'll snap(he's not mentally well). I didn't feel attacked buddy, I filled in some gaps as I am now. As for the rest, fair enough.
