Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Hatch looks like he could be an bullpen arm.
jerb Verified Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Arden Zwelling @ArdenZwelling Per manager Charlie Montoyo, Blue Jays have signed left-handed reliever Marc Rzepczynski to a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training (pending a physical). The 34-year-old pitched to a 5.04 ERA over 45 triple-A appearances in 2019.
jerb Verified Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Arden Zwelling @ArdenZwelling On Blue Jays pitching front, Ryan Borucki played catch today and felt good — but he’s out of the running for a job in the opening day rotation, per Montoyo. Fifth spot currently down to Trent Thornton and Shun Yamaguchi, who’s starting today.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I like how fast decisions are being made when it comes to rotation s***. Let Borucki get healthy and not try and force something to happen as far as the 5th SP spot goes. Hatch looked awesome yesterday, I imagine his stuff plays up well in short bursts.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Alford picked the wrong sport! Go to the XFL dude!
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I hope not, I want to see Shaw 5 Grichuk somewhere around 6 -7
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I hope not, I want to see Shaw 5 Grichuk somewhere around 6 -7 Shaw won't be in there vs lefties, and they'll be facing Sale Opening Day
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Yamaguchi struggling, couldn't get out of the inning.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 What is Luis Rivera's WAR? I don't think he is above replacement...
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 LGJ with back to back swinging strikeouts on 3 pitches? Without seeing the ABs, sounds awful.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 LGJ with back to back swinging strikeouts on 3 pitches? Without seeing the ABs, sounds awful. They weren't on 3 pitches?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 They weren't on 3 pitches? Probably watching on Gameday. Gameday doesn't do balls and strikes very accurately during spring training...

Ray Verified Member Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Pearson struck out the side in his 1st inning. Tyler Wade looking, Andujar and Tauchman swinging
jerb Verified Member Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Arden Zwelling @ArdenZwelling Nate Pearson starts spring by striking out the side — one looking, two swinging. He threw 12 pitches in the inning, 9 for strikes (4 swinging). Relied heavily on his fastball. Unfortunately, no radar readings provided at TD Ballpark. Mike Wilner @Wilnerness590 I’m a few seats away from a NYY scout who is relaying Pearson’s pitch speed to the dugout since there’s no gun here. Nothing untoward, but I think I’ve cracked his code. Pearson was 97-99 with the fastball in striking out the side in order in top1. Slider hit 90, no biggie.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 (edited) Damn, SS today? I'm watching the wrong stream, lol. Nope, the game in Dunedin isn't broadcasted. http://www.volokit.com/volostream/mlb-games/blue-jays-ss-vs-phillies-ss/ Edited February 25, 2020 by Spanky99
jerb Verified Member Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Arash Madani @ArashMadani Julian Merryweather, who came to Toronto in the Josh Donaldson trade of 2018, pitched the second inning. Two strikeouts, two hits, 1 ER. Merryweather can light up the radar gun. If he stays healthy, the hope is that he becomes a starter down the road. Mike Wilner @Wilnerness590 Merryweather gives up a run on two ground ball hits (one hit hard past a diving Vladdy, one with eyes up the middle). Consistently at 96-97 with the fastball. #Bluejays
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Nice D by Bo and Biggio to rob a hit and get a force out in the Philly game. EDIT: Right after I wrote this, nice diving grab by Tellez with a runner on to save a double and end the inning. Boys are playing some nice D in the IF today.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Good D, by our infield that inning.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Nice D by Bo and Biggio to rob a hit and get a force out in the Philly game. *Cough Tellez Cough*
jerb Verified Member Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Arden Zwelling @ArdenZwelling Patrick Murphy gets two strikeouts and a groundout in a 10-pitch (9 strikes) third inning. He got six swinging strikes from Yankee hitters. Pretty encouraging day so far for young Blue Jays pitching.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Realmuto's so good, man. Pitching in both games have been good.
