I was annoyed by it at first, and now it doesn't bother me.

 

Actually, I haven't minded the lack of audience at all.

I don't like that some broadcasts pan to the god damn cutouts during the game.

I don't like that at least our guys keep pointing out there are no fans, ok we get it no need to mention it over and over again

I can't think of a single example of blatant service time manipulation for a pitcher, aside from the Jays pushing Pearson back a week, which is a no-brainer.

I'm amazed at high Pablo got in the air. He's has a tremendous amount of natural athletic ability. It's a shame he couldn't stay away from the buffet table.

I think that becomes permanent. MLB will use the reason that it prevents possible injuries by eliminating games going well into extras and possibly forcing position players to pitch

sorry for the n00b question as I have been away from baseball until last night due to some personal/family issues involving Covid-19 - do they default with runners from 2B at the start of extra innings? is this for real?

 

what other changes did they make to the game itself season?

That's right. Supposedly that one is only temporary for the 2020 season, although it's thought to have been in the works for a while and may stick around past the next CBA. Other changes which were supposed to be permanent pre-covid are 26 man rosters, and relievers must face a minimum of three batters or finish the inning, whichever comes first, before being replaced with another pitcher. The rosters are now 30 men to begin the year, then it will drop down to 28 a couple of weeks after and later to 26.

I have considered that my stubborn old man syndrome may have contributed to my resistance to the idea. Maybe it isn't that bad after all.

I thought it would feel like the shootout in hockey, which is a farce. But this still feels like baseball. Teams still have to execute in a normal way to score runs. Ohtani made a baseball mistake, his team didn't score, and they lost the game.

Not a good job by Fox with the virtual fans, it would be fine if all cameras had them, it is disjointed, one view you see the fans the next view empty seats.

Ohtani didn't break right away for 3rd on a ground ball to 2B and got thrown out. Would have scored on a single 1 or 2 ABs later. Then their bullpen completely imploded.

Who threw him out? I heard it was a pretty heads up play. Then I heard there was a walk off grand slam in the 9th but forgot if it was the same guy who erased Ohtani.

 

What a beautiful swing. My god. Someone should put it on a coin.

Yeah the Olson heads up play was nice but the real star of that play was the Matt Chapman scoop.

That was pretty sick. He didn't even pause, just scooped it as if that throw was right on the money.

 

And the weird thing is that Matt Olson probably would have scooped that almost as well. The Matts are both top tier scoopers.

Some of these teams lineups look more or less like the same crap they put out last year, off the top: Angels, Padres, Orioles, Rangers, Tigers... granted Angels and Padres have a couple studs, but Padres don't at all look like the talented team from top to bottom that they were pegged to be.... Hosmer signing was just so bad.
