Oh that's right I forgot he looked elite last year once up.

His 2019 numbers were fine for a rookie. 17.7% K rate, 105 wRC+

Don't get worked up over SSS numbers this year

Teoscar Hernandez leads MLB in homeruns

that's it man

not sure if I will ever get to say that again

He hit 18 in the second half last year with only 228 plate appearances. The ball came off his bat at 114MPh.....he's got 40 homer potential.

I don't like how Biggio is the only guy on the entire squad that can reliably take a walk.

Danny's taken 4 walks already. I know what you mean though. I think Jansen might take his fair share....not sure about anyone else. We're a free swinging club for sure.

Hopefully some of that is youth, but we do have a lot of free swingers. Vlad was a walk machine until he came to the majors, think he is pressing.

BB% of about 10 in AA/AAA. He wasn't a walk machine.

Jays might have a bottom 5 offense...and all anyone seems to care about is bullpen usage on a team that everyone knew was a terrible pen

Interesting that, I just checked we're bottom 5 in Offense...

Jays have done fairly well after facing two very good teams in the Rays and Nats with just a -1 run differential, those few debacles by Gaviglio and Yamaguchi... this team had a decent shot at being 5-2 at the moment, imo. Our D needs to step up, that's far too low.

Shouldn't we be sending Yamaguchi down to the taxi squad (or whatever it is called) and get Tice or Murphy up with the big league team? Let him work out his issues down there. I wonder if he's still struggling with the larger ball.

The offense should correct itself though. Nobody would expect the core players to be below average hitters so regression is in order.

Defense is not promising though.

Yes, and definitely could be part of it.

He has such obvious tantalizing power. He hits balls out oppo where he is out in front and doesn't get it all.

Always been about pitch selection for him. I think this year is his last chance at a starting role in MLB. He isn't out there for his mitt.

It looks like to me that he is simply resuming where he left off last season. Ever since his call-up last year in June he's been on a total tear with the bat. Hopefully he can keep this up long term.

Which is a micro-shame because he has like, 70th percentile sprint speed and a good arm.

Fisher, Hernandez and Roman Laureano came up through the Astros system at the same time and were all similar "five tool" OF prospects. Laureano is a star now and Fisher and Hernandez have essentially the same flaws and the same projections.

Well at least Giles isn't headed for tommy john for now. If we're going to have a break in the season, it may as well be while Giles is recovering.

Just a reminder everyone, some of the worst hitters in the majors right now by wRC+

1. Gary Sanchez

3. Christian Yelich

6. Kris Bryant

Lets wait and see what the numbers are like at the end of the season.

Hopefully it's just a cramp due to the extreme heat, Fisher was off to a very nice start with the bat.

They really couldnt get a team to play the jays?

They're really gonna sit until tuesday?

Look on the bright side, it gives all our injured players time to rest and heal.

BTW any updates on Ken Giles?? Did he have his MRI yet??

now include last season

pretending this is an aberration from Vlad is a tiny bit disingenuous.

lol... he wasn't what we expected coming out of the gate last year, but he wasn't terrible either. It has been 7 games so far.
