Laika Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Weren't there reports of him sitting 95 as a starter right before going under the knife? Yes, but I don't remember if it was sitting, hitting, or s***ing. Borucki also said he didn't like to throw that hard and it scared him.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 That trade just keeps looking better.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 I have a feeling Roark will get rocked, which will make us reassess the whole rotation... I have been wrong once or twice before though.... Are you trying to imply that Roark will lose a spot in the rotation after his 1st start with team, after they just signed him to a 24 million dollar deal?
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Would be hilarious if Stroman someone saw that and took offense somehow lol.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Would be hilarious if Stroman someone saw that and took offense somehow lol. Sure hope not. Would further torpedo the Jays chances of signing him. Which would make the already hilarious trade an absolute embarrassment for the Mets.

I never said he would lose his spot and not after one start. No I did NOT imply that. The post was in response and right after posts talking about to using other starters as piggy back combos. Like a Thorton/Borucki start day. That works out fine if Roark goes 5 innings etc. If he gets rocked and only goes 2-3 then you will probably have to dip into the well and use a Borucki etc on a Roark start day, which subsequently messes up a planned piggy back day. He pitched fine tonight, albeit a line up now sin Soto, Rendon and featuring Bonfacio.. I wouldn't get all excited yet..

They have some injuries but so do we, you can't take Roark's performance with that grain of salt, he pitched well, period.

I didn't really like the dollars especially on the second year, but I really like Roark the person. If there is such a thing as veteran leadership, he has it. He's an easy guy to cheer for.

We all agreed we overpaid, but he's a horse, not too bad for a 4 guy. I don't find that deal was bad at all. Players pick each other's brains all the time.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 I like how you only responded to my post after the game and after Roark pitched pretty well That is because I didn't even see your post or come into this section until after the game. I don't even know who you are as a poster and certainly don't monitor you in case you responded to a post of mine. I like how you IMPLY I am implying something that wasn't even fnnn close to what I said. How about you don't make stupid assumptions and imply I am implying something.. Do you think this is posting competitions....? Get a life!
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 So you wouldn't sign Stroman because of twitter? He's a good target, whether he'd sign here is questionable. His asking price will not be cheap. We basically gave his extension money to Ryu, which is much more worth it. Stroman also wants a lengthy contract at age 29 despite his track record of nagging injuries. And regardless of his twitter game, the Velo has been trending down year by year, I'm not sure that projects well into a 4-5 year contract for a SP that's 5'7" at best.

Yes, depends on the price, shouldn't be much with recent injuries.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 So you wouldn't sign Stroman because of twitter? He's a good target, whether he'd sign here is questionable. No he isn't. First off, he's a pitcher. Second, his ego probably makes him think he's entitled to a big contract. There are much bigger spots to fill on this team, like the bullpen, outfield and DH/1B. I also didn't mention twitter, dipshit.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 He’s essentially a 3 WAR GB pitcher at his peak which projects about 20-25M/yr value. A 4-5 year contract would be $80-100M, not sure I want to do that. We paid Ryu $80M/4 yr. Yes he’s older, but he was almost a 5 WAR lefty ace for the Dodgers and CY young candidate last season. Stroman has never come close to that. When you factor in the drama involved and the twitter, it makes the contract offer even less appealing.

Yeah Spanky, you f***ing dumbass. Why don't you rub one out to an archived Stroman start?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 Yeah Spanky, you f***ing dumbass. Why don't you run one out to an archived Stroman start? Meeehhh... Shaaaaaaaaaaaduuuuuupppp!!! Racist hater! Midgetist!!!

BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 Syndergaard had surgery and extensive injury history, Paxton had surgery and velo is way down in his first start. Yet it would still be much more interesting forming a contract offer for those two honestly. They’d probably come cheaper than expected due to health.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 Midgetist!!! So much hate! The only things I hate are your baseball takes and raisins

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 It's mutual, I love raisins, beeeeeyotch! The difference being that my baseball takes are much better than yours. It's natural for you to hate them.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 Also, to just put an end to Spanky's spergy retardation, the Jays never made an attempt to extend Stroman and traded him with more than a year of control remaining. Safe to say he isn't coming back.
