jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 (edited) Hello all. As you may know long time super poster Tercet made hundreds of dollers in donations to the BJMB to support the community he loves so dearly (Special shutouts to Hurl, Spanky and BTS). Admin is now looking to share the love by putting on a post season contest and paying out a prize to the winner. This contest will not be for the faint of heart. The dangers in participating are currently unknown but could include carpal tunnel syndrome. Tercet is a man of astute character and this contest will be a reflection of that and will only include family friendly gambling themes. Okay, now let's get down to this. Each day you pick a team you think will win. If your team wins you move onto the next day. If you lose/miss your pick *twice* you're eliminated. Last man standing wins (TBD) the prize and is crowned the title of noble gambling man of the BJMB. So let's get at it. Brewers vs Nats. who ya got? Day 2: A's vs Rays. who ya got? Nats: P2F, Z3r0s, Deadpool, Krylian, Laika, Bob, Orgfiller, JFL19, Condor, Bones ,L54, TCA, KevinGreg, Devo, Spanky, MikeM, Aintnothang, EZe, Boxcar, DickPole, Hurl, Jimmy. Candy, Spats, Abom, Brownie, Sorrow, Lord Pendy, Admin, PinkFloyed, BTS, King, Terminator Brewers: Grant, Dogg, LTBF, TBJ12, GoldBull, Carlos Danger, SAAviour , Ginger, Rusty_Savage, BillSupra, Rays: P2F, Krylian, Laika, JFL19, Dogg, Condor, LTBF, Bones, L54, TCA, TBJ12, KevinGreg, Devo MikeM, Aintnothang, EZe, Hurl, Goldbull, Carlos Danger, Spanky, BTS, King A's: Z3r0s, Deadpool, Grant, Bob, Orgfiller, Candy, Boxcar, DickPole, Jimmy, Spats, Abom, Brownie, Sorrow, SAAviour, Lord Pendy, Admin, PinkFloyed, Ginger, Rusty_Savage, BillSupra, Terminator **RULE UPDATE. Due to the immense popularity we are switching the format to a double elimination format. I feel this rule properly honours Tercet as he was once perma banned from the board but was given a second chance. Thus if you forget to pick or you choose the wrong side you will be given a second chance so you can blow it in the future just like our dear friend Tercet.*** *** Also if anyone wants to change their pick due to this exciting development you may do so**** ***The two prizes going to the winner will be a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Toronto Blue Jays Majestic Alternate Official Cool Base Player Jersey - Royal Blue and a $50 Lids gift card, good in store or online. Mods must relinquish their mod status to be eligible for prizes This will allow for a start of the season baseball survivor contest for additional prizes.*** Edited October 4, 2019 by jays4life19

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 This forum certainly hates the Brewers. I like their chances against a bullpen with Daniel Hudson as it's best reliever.

Strasburg is meant to be available from the bullpen. Him and Scherzer could easily pitch all 9 innings together.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 Alright, the moment you have all been waiting for. JFL takes: Nats + Rays. I think taking the Brewers would actually be smart since it's a single baseball game and if they win, it will eliminate like 95% of the pool.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Scherzer vs half a Woodruff is a tough spot to start in. I think we might see 3 innings from Hader so even if they only get 4 from Woodruff, it's a decent position to be in. I'm really excited for the game.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 This forum certainly hates the Brewers. I like their chances against a bullpen with Daniel Hudson as it's best reliever. The Nats are at home with a better offense even including Yelich who won't be playing and will have two of Scherzer/Strasburg/Corbin available. I think it's pretty safe to say they're the favourites for that game.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 whats wrong with Woodruff? This is only his third start since being injured for two months, and he went two innings in each of those. Hasn't pitched since the 22nd.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Good money throwing down on Tampa winning the world series by the way, probably the best chance of the wild card teams except maybe the Nats
