I would tend to agree. How about Moustakas at 3rd ?! I would say Donaldson, but don't see it happening.

ETA: He (Moose) does have a mutual option with the Brewers for $11 M with a $3 M buyout. So may not even be available.

I doubt Moustakas will accept his half of that.

Donaldson, Moustakas would be good, but with all the payroll space we have, I'm throwing a ton of money and years at Rendon.

That's too quick idiot, defensive metrics are the worst!!!

FIGHT ME!!!

One of the things Laika pointed out is that it won't matter if you put him at first. He'll still be -15 or whatever it is on defense. I think that's mostly true with the way defensive metrics work. Though the way they should work, is that Vlad would be worse and worse at defense, the harder the position because he is converting less of the hard plays.

So if Vlad played SS full time he should be -25, 3b maybe -20, and first base maybe -15... because the harder the position, the fewer of hard plays he'd convert, as compared to a good defensive player. Going the other way if a great defensive infielder played 1st, third and short, their defensive value should be like 15, 20, and 25... or something...

Anyway I'd say keep him at 3rd for another year. You want to see if he can move from horrible to slightly below average... if he can do that, then long term it opens up different ways of team building.

I would love the team to get Rendon, but I don't think it's happening given where the Jays are in the rebuild. Also, I would like the team to get a FA SP, but not sure whether any of the players would sign here.

That's pretty much it. I'm also not convinced that Rogers would do what it takes to sign a player like Rendon even if they were contending (term and dollars).

He turned 35 last month, I think he might be approaching the end of his career

35 you say?

How is Reese doing so well when his numbers look terrible in the minors? Dude must be on greenies or something.

LMAO Alford didn't stand a chance. What's Montoyo thinking pinch hitting with him? It was the same yesterday with Davis. I'd much rather give Fisher a crack in that situation

His last at bat was 4 days ago and you bring him in the game mid way through to face a flame thrower. That's hardly a recipe for success. Alford's had 10 Abs this September. Fisher's struck out 9 of his 21 plate appearances this September. He probably would have struck out too.

lol well why put the guy in a position to fail? It's stupid management. I know fans will argue that "these games don't matter" but I think at the big league level, the prerogative has to be to do the best at winning the game
