Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 As it stands now Reese Mcguire and Danny Jansen are both rookies and will total about 3 wins. You could easily see the two total 4-5 Wins in future seasons. Thats pretty damn good. If you get 5 wins out of your catchers, you can overlook a lot of replacement value in the outfield. You shouldn't be overlooking any position.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Reese McGuire seems like a stud - like the type of catcher the Rays of old would start for 115 games a year if they had him.

Yeah, he's looking pretty damn good. Will be nice to have a catching duo where we don't drop off considerably when the backup is playing.

Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Hahahahahaha Boy oh boy they must really like Jonathan Davis, And Drury playing 1st, boy thats dreary.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 You guys might wanna temper expectations on McGuire a tad. His defense is pretty legit, but this is a guy whose last two seasons in AAA had a wRC+ of 86 and 73, with ISOs of .106 and .119 (juiced balls) with a BABIP around .280. Then in the majors he has a 145 wRC+ in 100 PAs with a .281 ISO (lol) and a .338 BABIP. Reese seems like he'll make a very good backup but let's pump our tires a bit on him.
