Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Wow Drury, outstanding play.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Author Posted September 12, 2019 speaking of, this guy has had some kind of nice run. since Aug 2nd: 11 starts (opening), 20.1 ip, only 5 ER Excellent numbers, but small sample size
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Thornton used two of the grips Buchholz uses tonight.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Thorton topped put 91?
wk680 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Excellent numbers, but small sample size Absolutely but nice job nonetheless and much helpful to a team with a shambles of a starting rotation.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Having vetrins around can come in handy.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Thorton topped put 91? He had 25 pitches 92mph or higher. Topped out at 94.6.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 He's been more of a spot starter That’s what a utility player is for.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Bosox look so demotivated. Almost like they can see 4 years of losing on the horizon. Thanks Dombrowski. The Red Sox haven’t had more than 2 losing seasons in a row for 25 years. They’ll just sign some free agents and release some deadweight if they aren’t a playoff team again in the next couple of seasons.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Author Posted September 12, 2019 That’s what a utility player is for Occassionally yes, but this season he has started 104 of 111 games he's played in. What I meant was keep him on the team for next few years as a late inning defensive player when trying to protect a lead, or a spot starter when someone gets injured or just needs a rest. He also doesnt become a FA until 2023
Ex Player Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Author Posted September 12, 2019 This basically means any results or stats occured against us since the 2nd week of the season is meaningless cause we have been out of it all year along with like 10 other teams. KC, BAL, MIA, DET havent looked motivated all year lmao...so any games vs those teams should be discounted or discredited lol Lol @ comparing September to ST. The reason why people might "discount" either of those is due to small sample size, ST is like a couple of weeks vs. guys trying their hardest to crack the MLB club, many of them prospects or career minor leaguers, while September historically has a bunch callups who may or many not perform well for a limited period. Thornton has a full season of data available so a good September can only be a plus and definitely counts All I'm saying is the Sox would have been a lot more motivated a month or 2 ago when they were still in the WC hunt. They were 8 games off the pace when the game started and clearly out of it, so less motivated IMO. OTOH Thornton is a lot more motivated since he's trying to stay with the team next year. Thats why I read a little less into these September performances Having said TT threw a great 5 innings and I hope he keeps it up. I have also previously stated this: https://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/9052-GDT-Toronto-Blue-Jays-vs-San-Diego-Padres-5-24?p=1362938&viewfull=1#post1362938
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Vladdy "Ground Ball" Guerrero.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Vladdy "Ground Ball" Guerrero. Seems to me this is an easy one for the hitting coach no? You cant teach bat speed, strike zone coverage, strike zone command etc. But you can teach launch angle? I hear about guys changing their launch angle all the time I guess the better question is, who is this teams hitting coach and what are they doing?
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Looks like Elvis has “recovered” from his “injury” just in time to get enough service time to satisfy rule 5 requirements. How fortunate!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Looks like Elvis has “recovered” from his “injury” just in time to get enough service time to satisfy rule 5 requirements. How fortunate! There’s a good chance Luciano turns into nothing, but they were able to carry him all year and keep his rights. If he turns into even a marginal asset it will be a win for the org.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Author Posted September 12, 2019 Fisher actually caught a flyball??!! OMG!!!
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Did I hear Buck say that Mickinney is a good option for next season? stfu Buck
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Vlad is kinda boring for a generational talent.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Vlad is kinda boring for a generational talent. No coaching
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 They will give a failed player lile McKinney starts but wont throw one bone to Alford
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Vlad is kinda boring for a generational talent. I too, find 20 year olds who have a 110 wRC+ boring.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 We get McKinney instead of Alford lmao
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Well, at least we know where McKinney will be next year.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 We get McKinney instead of Alford lmao Yeah, I don't understand the way Atkins is handling Alford. It's pathetic that he values McKinney with a higher ceiling.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Tellez would have gotten the walk if he didn't start flipping his bat towards the on deck circle. Umpires are egotistical cock suckers.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 That's not as egregious as we have seen, he was right though.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 McGuire with another solid AB.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 McGuire with another solid AB. He's been amazing. Amassed 0.8 fWAR in 20 games. Very impressed with him.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 McGuire with another solid AB. I hope we dont trade a catcher Let these two run with it
