Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Yeah I think so and that is affecting the movement on the 2-seamer - no longer the dynamic pitch it once was. The movement is pretty similar. He's getting slightly less sink, but I suspect that has more to do with control (getting the ball up too much) rather than anything else. The only pitch that really shows a noticeable difference is his curve, which is sharper than it has been in the past (I'm not sure if that's a good thing given his control). He really just needs to find a way to get his control back to slightly below average without getting blisters. I kind of think a move to the pen might be worse for his finger. It might be time to abandon the sinker.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I don’t know if we should have expected a better return for Pillar. But so far that trade has really f***ing sucked Pillar has put up a 65 wRC+ with negative fielding this year. He's basically Ryan Goins.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 When great base running turns into terrible base running.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Can we get a vlad pinch hit please

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I’m surprised Montoyo didn’t rest Vlad on Canada Day.

He may need to 'reinvent' himself, by as you said, abandoning the sinker and maybe replace with a cutter while depending mostly on the 4SFB and CB.

Ex Player Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 De Paula, hasn't been bad at all De Paula has been having a terrible 2019 so far at A-and Rookie ball

I'd like to see him move to a 4-seamer, curve, and splitter. I think that combo, with his velocity, would be quite effective.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 How not to bunt - brought to you by Luke Maile. edited: much better that attempt.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Surprised Montoyo is letting the fatty run.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 How not to bunt - brought to you by Luke Maile. edited: much better that attempt. Seriously lol, like you're a terrible hitter man, you better know how to drop one down on cue. Luckily he got it done.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Nothing of his will be effective if he can't fix his command. That's why I want to see him reduce the movement on the fastball. Get people off it via the splitter rather than extreme movement.

His problem isn't the movement, if he doesn't know where the ball is going then it's not going to make a difference by focusing on a 4-seam heavy approach. He's just not a good pitcher.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 De Paula is nothing Spanks He was the lottery ticket and Toronto shed Pillar's contract, it wasn't a bad trade is all I'm saying. We'll see about JDP
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Sanchez should get minus 1 war for this game

We'll see about JDP Shedding Pillar’s salary was the least of anyone’s problem Spanks. Not really concerned with Rogers saving money lol.
