Still 27, but has mostly been a minor leaguer since 2010.

Didn’t pitch well for the Pirates either.

Decent pick up. He's been bad, but makes more sense to give him starts over Edwin Jackson. Hopefully Pete Walker can work some magic.

Good enough minor league numbers though.

These are exactly the type of players we should be going for at this stage. See if they can be anything.

Fangraphs said he has a really good changeup and slider but if you look at his Statcast it says he throws the following: Four Seamer (37.4%), Changeup (17.2%), Curve (16.9%), Sinker (14.5%), Cutter (14%). Last year both his Changeup and Slider looked really good. Is he really not throwing a Slider this year or is Statcast not that reliable for labeling pitch types correctly?

Because it looks like his curveball is pretty effective too. Just has a crap fastball. If he threw the Fastball even less and threw his other pitches more perhaps he could be a backend guy.

Regardless, he's a much better option for us than Richard or Jackson.

Low 90s FB with an interesting curve.

Throws changeup, cutter, and sinker as well based on statcast.

Velo dip? He was throwing 94 last season.

He gave up a ridiculous 18 homers in 76 IP in 2018 and 7 homers in 34.2 IP in 2019 and a 39.9% flyball rate, with a 15.2-18.9% HR/FB ratio.. pitching in Pittsburg. Yikes.

Pirates (PNC Park) has a 0.970 HR park factor, Rogers Centre is 1.613.

if you look at 2018 it's still 0.849 vs 1.125, not a great sign.

Seems to have an especially hard time against lefties, getting hit pretty hard.

If you look at his statcast pitch charts it appears that he throws his very mediocre four seamer right down the can quite a bit lol.

He seems to have good enough secondaries to succeed. Get him to throw that fastball high and maybe you've got something.

Pretty bad command if you ask me

Yeah on his Fangraphs scouting page they said he has an "electric" slider and changeup and bad fastball command. This year he appears to be throwing a curve instead of the slider though? Regardless, his fastball needs work.

I disagree. Edwin Jackson has been an excellent tank commander.

I've never heard anyone suggest something like this before. How is Pete Walker still our pitching coach? Has he made any pitcher better?

Much like the rest of this season, this is not even thread worthy

Gotta love these trolls with no wit or creativity. Derrr this shouldn't even be a thread, good one!
