I think there is something to this. Biggio appears to have superior strike zone recognition but hasn't earned the respect from MLB umpires yet. If he hits half decently over the next year and continues to not show up umpires, he'll earn the respect of the umpires and start getting those called in his favour.

I'd be happy with an AA or AAA starter that has a change to be mid-rotation or a little better plus some young pups that may become something. Or a decent SP prospect and an OF that has more tools and potential than our current crop.

Yes, that's light for a year and a half of Giles... I'd expect more of something like one of Lux/May, Santana and Alvarez coming back, if we were to trade him to the Dodgers, somewhere in that ball-park.

If the Dodgers don't want to part with Lux or Ruiz for Giles, they should have no shot at acquiring him. Zero reason to move one of the best relievers in baseball for a couple of mediocre pitching prospects.
