As a hitter in that situation, you can initially pretty much eliminate anything up in the zone, huge advantage. I know it's not easy hitting good pitching but the combination of staying short and looking for something down around the knees (until two strikes),the chances of success is a lot higher. Regarding Betts, the pitches he struck out on vs Mayza were in the strike zone, or close to it. Not a good comparison.

Lol what? The high fastball is one of the most used pitches in baseball, it's good for pop ups and swings and misses. There's absolutely no way you're eliminating that pitch from your mind in that scenario. Hitting is not as easy as you're making it out to be, you can be looking for someone down at the knees and get thrown an enticing fastball up or a changeup outside to disrupt your timing. If Galvis was looking for a pitch inside he got a bunch of sliders that look just like it for 50% of the path home before it crashes down to his feet.

This loss is on Sogard. At least 3 times he became the third out when Vladdy could have batted with runners on base. 0-6....ouch.

Imagine if we had guys who could hit in front of VGJ.

Really? With two outfielders, as a hitter you should be able to eliminate anything up until two strikes. Please..

He's had a decent start.. still batting around .280 even after today but it's just frustrating.

Ureña is terrible lol. He got the "Can Ryan Goins stick?" treatment after 5 games to start the season. Now he just sucks again.

If the angles are inconclusive then an umpire's call should stand. We always seem to get hosed by NY. That said, atta boy Rowdy!

How is this reviewable? Didn't the Sox lose their challenge. Do you get another one in extras?

On August 15, 2013, Major League Baseball announced that it would expand its video review process for the 2014 season, granting managers one challenge over the first six innings of games and two from the seventh inning until the end of the game.

QUADRANGULAR FROM TELLEZ!

Guys I love the enthusiasm but I'd just like to point out that it's "cuadrangular" with a 'c'.
