Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 It's midnight, so I'm turning into a pumpkin.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 if Sogard goes to the DL we're bringing up Biggio, not Gurriel...right! Unfortunately it will most likely be Gurriel.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 Griffin Canning had 18 (!!!) swinging strikes out of 82 pitches, 22% SwStr rate. The kid was filthy.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Unfortunately it will most likely be Gurriel. that would defy logic. How does a guy who was mentally struggling on the defensive side of things work that out in 10 days?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Griffin Canning had 18 (!!!) swinging strikes out of 82 pitches, 22% SwStr rate. The kid was filthy. They were really going after that high fastball

He located his slider at the bottom of the zone well but the majority of the swinging strikes were the result of a combination of unfamiliarity and a lack of discipline.

His slider was excellent, the reason why they were swinging at it was because it was a good pitch that he consistently located where Lucroy wanted it. It's disingenuous to not credit the pitcher when he was very good and the hitters weren't seeing his stuff first time through the order at all.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 What a plate appearance. It's insane how they're not giving the 20 year old rookie anything to hit at all. No one wants to be known as that guy who gave up Vlad Jr.'s first homer.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 Is that Arash Madani talking? What the f*** was that?

No one wants to be known as that guy who gave up Vlad Jr.'s first homer. Only 2 pitches in the zone tonight. It's crazy
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Vladdy looked good in that AB, took the breaking balls well.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 Sogard has the shits, everything is good.

No one wants to be known as that guy who gave up Vlad Jr.'s first homer. This is why Vladdy has to hit in front of Smoak. Tellez hitting after him is a joke.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Vladdy and Grichuk need to switch spots in the order.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 Gaviglio continues to be a rock out of the bullpen. Comes in, hits his spots and gets the job done quickly, it's truly refreshing.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 (edited) I missed what happened with Sogard.. Someone here said something happened at 2b? But why do I keep hearing illness vice injury? Edited May 1, 2019 by Carlos Danger

No one wants to be known as that guy who gave up Vlad Jr.'s first homer. He’s getting pitched low and away so much and he’s been f***ed over by some bad calls, so now he’s been swinging out of the zone a bit. He’s definitely been getting pitched tough so far since his debut. I hope he can get a couple of hits and start settling in and relaxing a bit more.

He's been whiffing nearly 50% of the batters he's faced with his slider. His changeup has been great in a small sample size too: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/sam-gaviglio-543208?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 f***, I thought that was going to drop, really well hit by Smoak. 107 MPH exit velo too. .900 xBA
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 What a play Teoscar! If he misses that it's a disaster.
