SHould've pinch hit Teoscar for Brito there. Brito is absolutely useless.

That's what I was thinking... Anybody but Brito... f***, that pissed me off.

Small sample size, yes, but I've been unimpressed with Montoyo

This loss isn't all on Montoya but he had a bad game. Didnt use his bench at all. Left Sanchez in for a long time.

Not sure I like Grichuk in CF either. I wonder of Brito is there if he makes that tough play in the 9th or if he makes the grab on that blunder. that cost us 3 runs.

The backend of our roster f***ing sucks too. We have way too many guys who have no business being in the bigs.

I wonder what's going on with Jansen's plate approach this season as well. 20 K% & 6 BB% are very out of the norm for him. At one point do those stabilize? He definitely doesn't look like what his peripherals suggested the past few seasons.

You cant blame Atkins for not PH for him though..

You really can't blame Montoya for not pinch hitting for Brito with Teoscar up by a run and vs a RHP. Brito should just not be on the 25 man, period.

Those rates begin to stabilize at 60 PA for K% and 120 PA for BB%, IIRC.

Def not feeling good about some Atkins decisions....

I could really go with seeing a lineup that looked like the following:

Biggio

Freddy

Vlad

Smoak

Tellez

Grichuk

Teoscar

Jansen

Alford

Freddy probably gets moved down, but he's hot right now. I think Drury is a 4A player...his trajectory reminds me of JP Arencibia...the book is out on Drury..he's a K machine....I have slightly more hope for Gurriel as he doesn't K as much, but he could use some time in the minors. Brito is another 4A player and hanson is a 25th man player, but Urena might be a better 25th man......

The love Osuna in houston

Sure wish Osuna didn't beat his gf

I think that literally every game! He could of been top 5 closers all time for us

Giles has blown 1 save since joining the Jays (tonight) and you f***wads can't help but think this eh? This isn't yahoo or facebook. Don't spread your AIDS around please

The most frustrating part has been the young bats that we're hoping carve out MLB careers. None of Drury, McKinney, Gurriel, Hernandez and Jansen have looked like MLB players yet this year. The season is about letting young players play, but outside of Thornton and Tellez, all of the young players have been shockingly terrible.

Gift Ngoepe only lasted 13 games before being punted into the sun. Hanson and Brito probably have another week before hitting the Ngoepe zone and getting removed.

At least Ngoepe was a cool story though

Jansen is the only one out of that group who is a core piece though. Maybe Tellez too if his power is suddenly for real, but Drury/Teoscar/McKinney are basically throw s*** at a wall and hope it sticks type of players. Them struggling doesn’t real mean much. Would be nice if they turned into something but if they flame out it is not really a big deal. Jansen struggling is a problem but it’s still early. Gurriel is kind of in between.

115 exit velocity....Tellez power isn't fake!

The season will be a lot more fun to watch if/when a couple of those guys start playing well. None of them will be stars except probably Jansen, but it would certainly help things along if a couple become useful support players. Oakland and TB have won a lot of games with rosters full of Drury's and McKinney's who pan out and contribute 1-2 wins in specialized roles.

Don't group me. Osuna is 24... the guy is not even peaking yet. Giles is a massive downgrade, mainly for that and contractual/financial reasons.

Tellez is proving that he belongs playing every day! Let him figure out lefties and see what happens! What impresses me the most about him is his mind. He goes up to bat looking for that one certain pitch! He doesnt swing unless he gets it.. his defense could use some work! But playing every day wouldn't hurt

you know that Osuna makes more. I'm not reading this shithole of thread to know what group you being put in...but I believe I just "grouped you"

Yeah that is well said. There just isn't much to really cheer for right now. It's not even bad BABIP luck or anything. Just playing like complete s***.

I agree but teams pretty much have taken a giant dump on 1-2 win players in free agency. They are really cheap to acquire nowadays, and I’m talking about the established 1-2 win types. The Jays could easily supplement the roster with those types of players when the time comes, unless the market changes. The problem with the Jays is they don’t have any really good players yet, and that’s where we need Vlad/Bo/Jansen/Alford/Biggio/Tellez to come in and turn into players. Grichuk needs to take a leap forward too since he’s now going to be counted on as a core piece. I’d be more concerned if those players look s***** than the Hernandez/McKinney/Drury/Brito’s on the team.

But yeah the fringey players we hope turn into something are not playing well and that’s a big reason why this season has not been fun so far. Only a few more months until the roster turnover begins, hopefully.

Last year Oakland had Chapman who put up a 6.5 WAR, Lowry 4.9, Semien 3.7, Olson 3.4, Piscotty 3.0, Davis 2.6, Laureano 2.1 in 48 games, Martin 1.3 in 55 games, Canha 2.0 in 122 games, Pinder 1.8 in 110 games.

Oakland wasn't a roster full of Drury's and McKinney's.

OK........... anyway by the time this team is competing again Giles will be a hasbeen and Osuna will be in his prime... that is seriously unfortunate.
