Giles has this swagger to him that I am falling in love with. He is locked in every game he has played in. Why did he have his troubles the past 2 years>?

Well at least Giles is pitching. One of the few enjoyable to watch players we have right now. He's supposedly horrible in non-save situations if that's something that should be believed in.

 

I wouldn't normally put any stock in such things but Giles was clearly a head case last year so I guess I could see it being true before.

Giles appears much more well adjusted this year so I think he should be alright

Gameday has a feed tab in which they put the batted ball velocities after every at bat. That's usually what I use but there might be faster/better alternatives.

They have already said they are going to get him at bats before he comes up and he hasn't even hit Buffalo yet. I highly doubt he's up in 5 days. There's zero reason not to bring Biggio up though.

We're currently leading the majors in pitching WAR, second in strikeouts (after the Indians of course), just above average in walk rate, middle of the pack in groundball rate. The relievers are a tad worse than the starters but both are comfortably in the top 10.

 

Hopefully the hitting regresses to the mean before the pitching does lol.

They do look good but lets see how they do vs better line ups. Fundamentally, they do look good.

Is the current display by the young guys making you yearn for more of them? Not everyone is Vlad Jr., most of these guys have things to work on in the minors and would struggle in the bigs if they're pushed before they're ready.

Why? He made huge adjustments last year and showed a tremendous approach at the plate. This year he's already hit two bombs and taken 5 walks in 18 at bats. Gurriel might not have 5 walks until mid June. We have Hanson and Gurriel ahead of Biggio at 2nd....no reason not to bring him up.

Just because Gurriel doesn't look good and might even benefit from MiLB time doesn't mean Biggio is better off being in the bigs. One has nothing to do with the other, LGJ isn't blocking anyone.

Pitching has done a respectable job during the first week, though pitching against the awful lineups of Detroit, Baltimore and Cleveland early on. This team is going to struggle scoring runs though until Vladdy and Bo are called up.
