Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Giles has this swagger to him that I am falling in love with. He is locked in every game he has played in. Why did he have his troubles the past 2 years>?
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Well at least Giles is pitching. One of the few enjoyable to watch players we have right now. He's supposedly horrible in non-save situations if that's something that should be believed in. I wouldn't normally put any stock in such things but Giles was clearly a head case last year so I guess I could see it being true before. Giles appears much more well adjusted this year so I think he should be alright
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 That was probably Gurriel's hardest hit ball this year, unfortunate. 105 mph. What are you using to get this data? Just the at bat app?
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 can't wait They still going ahead with it, if he's optioned to Buffalo?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 You really think this is Montoyo's doing? #atkinstakingshotstolookbrilliant Do you even know what a hashtag is for?
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Then he does things like uses his best reliever in the most important spot in the game Lol Wtf
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Do you even know what a hashtag is for? Who gives a f***.
Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Extend Giles What would a long term contract look for him ? 3-4 years at $9-10 mill per?
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Who gives a f***. #whogivesaf***
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 What are you using to get this data? Just the at bat app? Gameday has a feed tab in which they put the batted ball velocities after every at bat. That's usually what I use but there might be faster/better alternatives.
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Lol @ this team. Red Sox have got to be pretty pumped to be facing us next
el duque Verified Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 16 Ks, please change the hitting coach
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 I use this: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/ Just click on whatever game you want and they update shortly after every batted ball.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 5 games til vladdy They have already said they are going to get him at bats before he comes up and he hasn't even hit Buffalo yet. I highly doubt he's up in 5 days. There's zero reason not to bring Biggio up though.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 On the bright side, the pitching was stellar again. We're currently leading the majors in pitching WAR, second in strikeouts (after the Indians of course), just above average in walk rate, middle of the pack in groundball rate. The relievers are a tad worse than the starters but both are comfortably in the top 10. Hopefully the hitting regresses to the mean before the pitching does lol.

They do look good but lets see how they do vs better line ups. Fundamentally, they do look good.

Do you really want to see another inexperienced player be shoved into the fire before he has to? Is the current display by the young guys making you yearn for more of them? Not everyone is Vlad Jr., most of these guys have things to work on in the minors and would struggle in the bigs if they're pushed before they're ready.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Biggio needs a few months of AAA pitching imo before bringing him up, but in a year like this who knows. Why? He made huge adjustments last year and showed a tremendous approach at the plate. This year he's already hit two bombs and taken 5 walks in 18 at bats. Gurriel might not have 5 walks until mid June. We have Hanson and Gurriel ahead of Biggio at 2nd....no reason not to bring him up.

He's 24 years old....He's physically mature....let him come up and make some mistakes. The fragility of the players psyche is grossly over exaggerated.....You don't think Gurriel has some things to work on? He clearly belongs in the minors.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Co-host of good show on 590 fan. A raptor host, lol.
Praxis Verified Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 A raptor host, lol. So....anyone on here who talks about the Raptors should shut up? NB I don't like the Raptors or basketball in general. Not my thing.

Just because Gurriel doesn't look good and might even benefit from MiLB time doesn't mean Biggio is better off being in the bigs. One has nothing to do with the other, LGJ isn't blocking anyone.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Alright, boys. I'll make the GDT for the next game. I'm 2 and 1 this year and I'll bring the W home for us
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 What are you using to get this data? Just the at bat app? You could use baseball savant has most of statcast information. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?game_pk=565321&game_date=2019-4-7 Danny Jansen has hit a lot of balls hard this year,so far, not much luck, unfortunately.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Pitching has done a respectable job during the first week, though pitching against the awful lineups of Detroit, Baltimore and Cleveland early on. This team is going to struggle scoring runs though until Vladdy and Bo are called up.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
