I noticed yesterday with absolute horror that Sportsnet added the strike zone box right over the plate.

That box is a clear and undesirable constraint, as we have to deal with 4 white lines obstructing the path of the pitch and the contact

between ball and bat.

I'm wondering if Buck and Pat have the “benefit” of the K Zone right over the plate on their monitors…

Over the years, the K Zone was on the right side of the screen, away from the action, for God’s sake keep it there.

The joy the viewers had to follow the throw and the contact is taken away, with absolutely NO ADDED VALUE to the broadcast.

If the K Zone over the plate isn’t deal with fast, and put in it’s right place where it belong outside the field of play, I will

cancel my subscription to Sportsnet, it’s as simple as that.

We are not imbeciles who has to be told where the strike zone is.

If you agree, please write sportsnet at:

Honestly, it didn't bother me at all and I've been watching baseball for like 25 years. I might even like it better this way.

Agree with OP that having the K Zone on the side of the screen is much preferred.

With that said, Rogers dgaf about you cancelling your subscription and your emails will have 0 effect.

I emailed that if they didn't change to KMH I was cancelling. This is Canada.

Actually I didn't catch much of the game but I didn't even notice.

It does seem silly, though, that we have real time data showing definitively whether a ball is a strike and yet still solely rely on a blind old f*** to make that call with no electronic assistance.

I used to enjoy the human component, but with the technology being used for replay etc it just makes sense to move more towards a technology based umpire. Why not give the umps an ear piece with a ball and strike sound to call the pitch?

It happens in an instance and would be much more accurate.

Yes, would need to measure up each batter and bingo.

I'm with you, but I think instead of an ear piece, more of a shock collar. Punishment for past sins.

I believe some umpires in the minors are wearing earpieces to assist with ball and strike calls.

The graphic is so subtle and unintrusive that I honestly might not have noticed the change if it wasn't for this thread. I've seen this used in US broadcasts and I've never found it to be anything other than positive.

I also really like the new info box format rather than the old info bar.

I don’t like that it doesn’t go away between pitches, it’s a bit distracting when the catcher is throwing the ball to the mound, the batter is walking around etc.

As soon as I heard my parents make this exact complaint I knew there would be some crotchety old fan posting about it here on the board. Honestly it's barely noticeable, and several other broadcasts have start using the live K-zone in recent years so it's no surprise sportsnet decided to pick it up.

I don't mind it at all. It kind of helps you realize how good/s***** the ump is that day.

I'd like to see a streamer at the bottom with news from other games

That's one thing I don't want to see at all. I hated watching things on theScore because of their constant ticker.
