Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 I answered your questions. I provided you a link so you could find the details yourself next time. I didn't swear at you or call you names. Next time use lmgtfy.com instead.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Seems like the type of guy we should be taking flyers on during a rebuilding phase I'm all for this, especially if we end up trading Sogard. He'd be a good bench bat.

He's an above average outfielder, average 2nd baseman, walks at a good clip, doesn't strike out much. He's really a perfect bench bat. You don't want to put a young prospect in a role where they may only be playing twice a week.

Unless you think he’s going to turn into a starter I don’t see the point. Someone like Urena, who is almost certainly nothing but has options might as well get that roster spot IMO.

Even with a .233 BABIP, he'd be our 5th best offensive player. Sign him up.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 The IFA signing process has got to be some of the shiftiest dealings in all of sports.

DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Tulo announces his retirement.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Tulo retires. What does that mean regarding what the Jays owe him?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Tulo announces his retirement. This deserves its own thread I feel. Doesn’t this mean the Jays don’t owe him any more money? Excellent news if true
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 I wonder if he's still excited about that spring training homer against us.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 d'arno with another tater, this time off Sale This deserves its own thread I feel. Doesn’t this mean the Jays don’t owe him any more money? Excellent news if true I think so but I'm no expert.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Tulo retires. What does that mean regarding what the Jays owe him? Nothing - he gets all of it.

Laika Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Tulo retires. What does that mean regarding what the Jays owe him? If Tulo was still with Toronto and under that contract, retirement would mean him giving up the money. But Toronto released him from the contract. Essentially the new deal was Toronto agreeing to pay him the same salary to not play for them. Annoying, but it lets him retire and still get the money. And if he had not been released, I doubt he retires and foregoes the ~20M or whatever it is, so it's a moot point. Too bad they couldn't find some way to get someone to take on the contract.

Yup that makes more sense. No way Tulo would have retired if it meant giving up a penny of his contract. Too good to be true. Oh well. Traded for in July 2015, replacement level by 2017, retired by 2019. Wow.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Nothing - he gets all of it. Is it because he was released by Jays? I figured they were off the hook for the remainder of contract if he retired. Just seen Laika post. Looks like Shatkins just flushed what $38M down the drain? Rogers going to be pissed.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Tanaka getting destroyed. Trade incoming.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 For some reason, there's nothing I love more than seeing Fernando Rodney blowing a save.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Yeah, he totally would have still formally retired if it cost him 40 million. I have my doubts. Releasing him was questionable when it happened and looks like a terrible decision now though.
