Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 Not that his post is any less stupid, but the best defensive catcher in baseball is Austin Hedges and it appears that it's not even close. I wouldn't definitively say Jansen is the second best either, although he's certainly in that tier and you could argue for a number of players there. Thanks, pedant
AintNoThang Verified Member Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 You are disqualified solely based on the use of "lurkered" I agree. That was cringe. I once won a badminton tournament when I was 14, based solely on disqualifications/injuries. Sort of hoping for a similar outcome.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 If the Jays come out and say, 'ya...he's fine...minor tweak...he's day to day'...will anyone actually believe it?
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 I remember someone on here kept saying Biggio was slow when he was in the minors.. I said no he is not, he played WR on his high-school football team. He also ran the bases very well and had a high success rate in SBs. Come to find out he is faster then our projected $55 million dollar CF.. Huh!

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 So do you believe it... Not really. Inflammation has a tendency to flare up. My guess is he'll have another flare up before the season is up.
ColdPint Verified Member Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 The Jays clearly need to make whatever decisions need to be made to keep his bat in the lineup. If that means FT DH, that’s what they should do, and now.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 Great article on Biggio. https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/reviewing-cavan-biggio-future-offensive-star/ I didn't realize his LD and IFFB rates had been that excellent. His biggest problem for sure appears the be the called strikeouts, some of which are a result of his good eye and approach making him take borderline pitches (many times outside the zone) and his heavy pull propensity/the shift. He's also had a very average exit velocity, so he might just not be hitting the ball quite hard enough to beat this last factor, but with his good approach you can hope he can either improve on that or increase the aggressiveness a tad.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2019 Author Posted August 19, 2019 Looks like we’ll be getting Travis Bergen back after he was dfa by the Giants. Not entirely sure if he’ll be eligible for rule 5 again next year but even if he was can’t see him being picked again. As long as we don’t have to add him to the 40 man we might as well keep him.
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 Not entirely sure if he’ll be eligible for rule 5 again next year. No reason why he wouldn't be eligible once again if we didnt put him on the 40 man
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2019 Author Posted August 19, 2019 No reason why he wouldn't be eligible once again if we didnt put him on the 40 man Even though he’s been on the Giant’s 40 man? Either way we shouldn’t lose sleep over potentially losing him again.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 Great article on Biggio. https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/reviewing-cavan-biggio-future-offensive-star/ From the eye test, there's not a player I've noticed being more consistently boned by craptacular "definitely out of the zone" strike three calls than Biggio. I think he'd benefit more than average from #roboumps

That would certainly be an excellent ceiling, if he could rech that. I wonder if Max is the #1 lowest in O-Swing% they were talking about?

IIRC, When he was claimed, the Jays got $50K as compensation, when he's returned, they Jays have to give back half of that. Last I remember hearing about this was a few years back, the numbers may have changed since then.

So Romano was returned, DSJ sucks again, and Bergen about to be returned. I can be as hard on Shatkins for their moves as anyone, but never understood the uproar about the above moves.
