I'm not drinking the kool-aid but I'm a bit more optimistic than this. Vlad, Bo, Biggio, Jansen make up a fantastic core. Add in other cheap/ somewhat interesting pieces like Gurriel, Grichuk and even Fisher and Teoscar and the lineup looks like it should be in good shape for the next 3-4 years.

The pitching looks like s*** but we have a buttload of #5 types. If a couple of them stick, or even better turn into mid rotation guys, we are looking much better there. Pearson could be the #1 or 2 type we need. We probably need to make a big signing there though.

The bullpen looks like s*** to me but it's easier to turn that around.

Pearson

SWR

Manoah

Pardinho

Those are the potential top of the rotation guys we have in addition to the buttload of #5 types. They won't all work out, but we should be able to integrate them (in a couple of waves) with a few signings/trades to fill out the rotation.

I'm going to stake a prediction that the 1st 3 above will work out as #1 or #2 level arms based on size, potential durability, and current results/stuff.

Pardinho is probably the most risky of the 4 and the farthest out, likely, as I expect Manoah to skip Lansing and go straight to Dunedin in 2020 before leapfrogging Pardinho to AA to end the year.

Kloff is also interesting but I think he's farther out that even Pardinho and looks like more of a potential mid-rotation arm to me.

Is this the name that Alyssa Milano uses to book hotel rooms or something?

Nah, its the wife of that boyband guy (forgot his name). She's actually pretty hot

Pretty much agree. Relievers you can pick up anywhere though, quality starters are much harder

AAA depth, was already optioned to the Bisons.

Yep. I know nothing about him, but he's got 3 options remaining, and seems to have a pretty decent bat (for a catcher) from the left side.

Yea those on base percentages are pretty impressive even for AAA.

I wonder if Luke Maile's days as a Jay are coming to a close.

We can only hope. Watching him try to hit is f***ing painful.

Those four guys could be special. We have a butt load of decent back end starters, too. Come 2022 we may have a very solid rotation.

Vladdy Jr. beats Vladdy Sr. in the CherrypickedStats division. If the dinosaurs who currently vote for the HOF aren't dead as f*** by the time he's eligible, he'll be first ballot no problem!

Are we going to be subjected to these stupid comps for the next 15 years?

Cavan Biggio is only 3010 career hits behind his dad, Craig Biggio.

Probably... But on the bright side, they'll only show them if Jr is close to his dad..... You know, the HOF guy.

Lol because there are so many backup catchers that can hit? I always thought Maile was fine for his role. His days are numbered as a Jay though.

Maile was fine when he was merely a below average hitter. When he's one of the worst hitters in the game that's another thing, and it's a problem.

I really think the Jays should give Reese a serious look. When he is on the Jays all they do is win. He is MLB calibre D and he seems like a guy who might excel more in the majors relative to his ML numbers.

Danny Jansen is the best or second best defensive catcher in baseball and a much better hitter than McGuire (who would be a good backup)

Are you retarded?

I have no issue with Reese as backup next season. In fact, that's exactly what should happen. I'm impressed with what I've seen from him defensively.

But Jansen is the better catcher and should absolutely be the starter. He will be very good for years to come. If Reese ever gets to the point where he's actually challenging Jansen for playing time we should consider ourselves extremely lucky.

Not that his post is any less stupid, but the best defensive catcher in baseball is Austin Hedges and it appears that it's not even close. I wouldn't definitively say Jansen is the second best either, although he's certainly in that tier and you could argue for a number of players there.

I’m not pessimistic really. Just reflective and I think realistic. I don’t think we can assume our core today will all succeed at MLB level. It’s too early to tell. Like what I see but injuries and adjustments will always play. Watched Hinske, Wells and Rios etc peaks and valleys etc. The FO does have some pitching options on the horizon and can augment that in the rotation. Pens are one of the easiest areas to improve agree. I really hope the D improves. Bo Vlad Biggio and Tellez right now is one scary IF for an arm. 😂

It appears that way unfortunately.

Oh no guys! A media outlet meant to hype up the franchise to casuals and bring in more revenue (thus increasing the team's ability to spend) is putting out fun, useless articles/tweets to that casual fan base. Immediately gouge out your eyeballs with ice cream scoops so you're not subjected to this. You are all WAY too smart to put up with this junk.

See, this guy knows the correct reaction to this.

What the f*** is wrong with you? You used to defend Cross Dresser and his right to post fun-loving, old fogie type of posts. Now you're on him worse than anyone else. You guys have a spat or something?

What he said isn't even that bad. It's a good problem for the Jays to have, two good catchers and no AA to trade them both away in the span of two months. If Jansen's workload as starter is something like 110 games, McGuire will get a significant look anyways.

As far as the "When he is on the Jays all they do is win" comment, I agree, that was intolerably dumb. But no reason to call the poor guy retarded.

I was talking at BACKUP.. Look at the context of the thread.. They were talking about Maile and the guy from the A’s.

I am suggesting as Backup! I know it was late and you had a nice little vacation from the board, but catch up and read correctly.

I've "lurkered" here for a while and have seen the awards handed out.....such as best new poster. I want to win that award, so I'm wondering about the competition. Is BlueRocky eligible this year? He's basically the Tatis Jr. of the group and I'm John Means (at best). If he's eligible, I may stop posting until next year.... if so, will I retain eligibility for the award next year?
