Probably similar to Vladdy. He'll show his talent, and also show some rough edges with a few slumps.

At least with Bo you'll get a steady diet of athleticism no matter what.

Hi. I was just wondering what you all think about Bo getting called up when he's just 5 for his last 44 PA with only 3 XBH during that time?

Agreed. Should've been demoted to AA.

Makes no difference if he's 5 for 44 or 30 for 44. That's a very small sample. He's been ready for a while now, just needed the room on the roster to be able to play him every day.

Is 120 wRC+ in 2017/AA and 102 wRC+ in 2018/AAA impressive to you?

He's always been very young at each level - even younger than what is commonly considered the acceptable age for legitimate prospects.

When he's 3 years younger than average age? Yes.

But if he's basically a league average hitter maybe he needs more seasoning... just saying.

For the minors, does anyone know if Fangraphs calculated wRC+ on a league basis or level basis? In other words, do the numbers for AAA include all of the International League, PCL, and Mexican League, or does it calculate them for each one separately?

Logically it would be league basis. The Mexican League has park factors more extreme than Coors.

Plus the Mexican league isn't affiliated with MLB. It wouldn't make sense.

Logically it should, I'm just wondering if it actually DOES? Good point on the Mexican League, although it could still lump the IL and PCL together.

I think it definitely considers them independently.

A 100 wRC+ in the IL is about a .340 wOBA and in the PCL it's around .353.

I would be surprised if they did have the same wRC+ scale and park factors made up all that difference. IDK if they use the same linear weights in wOBA for both.

Edit: btw there are links in the two wOBA numbers I quoted but they are hard to see.

People aren't giving up on Reid-Foley right? Still putting up good strikeout numbers and supressing hits. There are still pitchers his age who figure out how to control their pitches better.

I'm not.

Not yet. He still might have a successful future as a reliever.

Watched Moneyball again and listening to the audiobook.

Probably been discussed before lots but got me wondering about "WAMCO" and what would have been a better constructed line up in '93? Curious what some of the smart guys on there think?

Looking back at White's and Carter's numbers this am. Fk Carter was so over rated its shocking when you look back. Career 102 wRC+ 17 WAR and a .319 OBP in 93.

The future doesn't look bright as a starter but like him a lot as multi-inning relief arm.

I still really like him, I'm just not sure what roll he's best suited for. I'd love to start him the remainder of the season to see what we have there.

Same... starting tonight, go with a 6 man rotation and spread the innings.

Definitely an adjective I like seeing when confidently talking about a prospect.

Without that lineup construction (or Alomar batting 6th), Olerud strikes out against Williams, Phillies come back to win game 7 and there is one banner instead of two. Enough of looking back at stats that didn't exist at the time. Joe Carter was never a bad choice for the third spot even if there were better candidates in a loaded lineup.
