jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 I seriously hope we swing a deal with the Twins. I'd be all over Stroman + Giles for Kirilloff + Balazovic/Graterol + smaller piece.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Calm down mate. He was clearly saying Tucker as the centrepiece for a combined Stroman/Giles trade, and acknowledged Houston wouldn’t want Giles back. Too many insecure little men who can only feel manly on internet chat boards. The net is full of them and this board has a large handful of them.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 (edited) I seriously hope we swing a deal with the Twins. I'd be all over Stroman + Giles for Kirilloff + Balazovic/Graterol + smaller piece. Dream scenario. It’s hard to see the Twins pony up that much in one trade though. It would likely take both Stro and Giles for them to let go of Kirilloff, and even then I’m not so sure they’d agree. I can see them trading for Giles only. I’d be happy with Ken Giles for Trevor Larnarch + Jhoan Duran. Really young pitcher like Balazovic that haven’t reached Double-A is inherently risky. Their value can fall off a cliff really quickly if their stuff isn’t absolutely lights-out. If Balazovic is the centrepiece, there better be multiple arms returning in that package. (Remember Matt Boyd was a throw-in for the David Price deal, you never know) Not sure I want pitching to be the centrepiece without seeing them succeed in double-A. I feel more confident in a prospect like Deivi Garcia for this reason, if we trade Stro to NY. Edited July 18, 2019 by BlueRocky
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 You guys are wasting time with Twins talk.. I already posted Braves pitchers that would most likely be part of a deal. You should study up!

We need to find a win now team willing to spend!

Ray Verified Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 It seems like the Twins would be a stingy team giving away prospects. We need to find a win now team willing to spend! Au contraire. The Twins have a championship calibre offense right now where most of their players are having career years. It's not often that teams combine to hit to the tune of a 114 wRC+. They've also been starved of a good playoff run since 2002. I think there's a chance they would overpay in the form of a ridiculous prospect package if we can convince them they are a great starter and elite reliever away from being World Series contenders (which they very well might be). Kiriloff + Brusdar is within the realm of possibility if we package Stroman and Giles imo.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 The Padres got MLB.com's 15th rated prospect for a reliever worse than Giles and another reliever. There are teams willing to pony up and it's Atkins' job to find them. Kirilloff for Giles and another body would be a very similar trade actually. Sorry Grant - I misread your original post about Giles and Tucker. That said, you're now suggesting we should get Kirilloff for Giles and 'another body' Kirilloff is ranked 13th overall, while Tucker is ranked 10th (by MLB). Now I'm once again confused on how you value Giles.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Edwin Jackson throws heat (97 mph), looks effective finally - DFA Kingham looking better and better - DFA Seriously... Are you seriously defending Edwin Jackson?
Todd Verified Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Blue jays should do to Aaron Sanchez what they to Roy Halliday all those years ago. Send him down to the minors to reinvent him self. Worked before it might work for him.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Sorry Grant - I misread your original post about Giles and Tucker. That said, you're now suggesting we should get Kirilloff for Giles and 'another body' Kirilloff is ranked 13th overall, while Tucker is ranked 10th (by MLB). Now I'm once again confused on how you value Giles. I only suggested that a similarly ranked prospect (#15) went for a similarly valuable reliever (Hand) last season. Gleyber Torres was also up there when he was traded for Chapman. That kind of trade won't necessarily happen this year but it's perfectly reasonable for Atkins to target a top 20 prospect for Giles. That's the going price for elite relievers with control. Fans outside of this forum wouldn't bat an eye if Giles and say Biagini went for Kirilloff. This is irrelevant and just my opinion, but I think that the gap between the values of Tucker and Kirilloff is much bigger than the 3 spots would suggest. Tucker is putting up elite numbers at a high level like Bichette. Kirilloff is still ranked based on potential like Kelenic and Trammell. He's in a lower tier if you ask me.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Surprised they DFA'd Kingham, he was looking half-way decent... Could've been a good innings eater at the least.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Am I missing something with Kingham that everyone else is apparently seeing?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Guys, Nick Kingham f***ing sucked. He was so f***ing awful, I'm shocked that anyone has reacted as anything more than an uninterested shrug.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Our staff sucks, lol. Nick Kingham had a worse strikeout rate, FIP and xFIP than our starters who have been some of the worst in the league. He was making our pitching worse and projects just as badly. He is pure trash.

I don't get what you're trying to drive home. IDGAF
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Are you seriously defending Edwin Jackson? Hah, just saying he should have been DFAed eons ago. But he finally looks effective, hits 97 mph with late movement (figured something out?) and then he is DFAed. Weird timing is all. No I do not see him as the future of the Blue Jays.

Edwin Jackson's velocity was never the issue. He was hitting 95 as a starter regularly, but he couldn't command anything and as a result would walk a bunch of people and get hit around.

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 There are 153 qualified hitters this year. Dwight Smith Jr. is dead last in fWAR at -0.7. He can't hit (79 wRC+) or field (-9 DRS, -6.1 UZR). He is a very, very bad baseball player.
