BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Vlad Jr now hitting .256/.326/.472 with 7 HR wRC+ 112 (and that might be before his big game last night) Not bad after the slow start Since moving up to no. 2 in the batting order, in 23 games he’s hitting .295/.361/.591, OPS .952 and 151 wRC+ 151 wRC+ is outstanding and the game is starting to slow down for him, and the great thing is he’s still nowhere close to his ceiling. He’s playing a decent 3B which is a good sign. Still hitting way more balls into the ground compared to his time in the minors and we haven’t seen him really go on one of those crazy hot streaks yet. He should finish the year close to 120-130 wRC+ and maybe 20-25 homers, he could easily run into 10 in a month with those exit velos

We all knew he'd be fine. Just didn't want to see him suffer through a demotion.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Vlad is pretty good He's now the odds on favourite to win AL ROTY too https://www.sportsbettingdime.com/mlb/mlb-al-nl-rookie-year-odds/ (Although Yusei Kikuchi is gaining ground)

SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Might be a good idea to finally supplement the major league roster this offseason with proven major league talent, via trade and/or free agency. Russell Martin and Kendrys Morales will be off the books and we have next to zero long term financial commitments. The only high priced arbitration guys like Stroman and Giles will presumably be traded. We're probably looking at a payroll well short of $100M. Now would be a time to add some long term pieces. I agree. For me one impact OF, two solid SP's (in addition to Shoemaker, whom they should pay to play next year) which may include an extension for Stroman. It's a tough sell with Sanchez represented by Boras, but I try to extend him and make him a reliever. His nail might not fall off quite so often.

Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Is Chavis not a rookie? You mustn't have checked on him lately. Young Chavis has been struggling mightily as of late, with that K rate now above 30%
xposbrad Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 You mustn't have checked on him lately. Young Chavis has been struggling mightily as of late, with that K rate now above 30% Is that the only stat they use for ROY? I still show him as 0.8 fwar vs 0.2 for vladdy so that's why I am asking.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Is Chavis not a rookie? Chavis April - 10 games - 177 wRC+ 15% / 25% BB/K May - 26 games - 104 wRC+ 9% / 30% BB/K June - 4 games - 37 wRC+ 5% / 47% BB/K Vlad April - 4 games - 84 wRC+ 18% / 24% BB/K May - 25 games - 112 wRC+ 9% / 18% BB/K June - 4 games - 142 wRC+ 6% / 12% BB/K some SSS's there of course, but it appears Chavis has some serious adjustments to make, while it appears Vlad has made the necessary adjustments.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 At this rate we should get Stroman some reps out there
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Vlad slam off Happ today would be pretty cool
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 When we trade Stroman and Giles it would be nice to get an upper level CFer in return. The FA market will be s*** for that position. Jarrod Dyson is probably the best one who will be available as of now.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Holy s***, I love you. Then you're going to love this week's episode of Radio Scouts Podcast...

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Who do you have in mind? With Gausman a gas can, Stroman for Pache and one of the Braves pitching prospects? I don't know a ton about other teams' prospects but that suggestion seems to be pretty good to me on first glance.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 So Edwin Jackson is starting, you can get an alternative spread of -2.5 on the Yankees, for 2.10 Isn't that the easiest money ever?
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 But I don't feel any pride for this team.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I hope they wear rainbow colored unis tonight.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 So Jansen finally gets a key hit and gets rewarded by starting on the bench Yeah just let the rookie catcher start every day. That'll be great for his longevity in the league.
