Except Stroman. f*** that guy. Conform or gtfo

Right, pet peeve of mine, between the lines is all I care about. I love his intensity on the mound, f*** the haters!

Might be a tad high but I think the best is yet to come. I think stroman is a 3.5+ win pitcher. Maybe 5 and 80 is more like it. Not much less

That's more like it, 15-16 AAV would be good. As folk already said, if he doesn't take that they can trade him for a good return.

80 is 16 AAV for 5 years. He's better than Eovaldi who got 17.5 just this off season. If stroman has a career year and puts up a 5.5 win season his asking price will go up. I said in the off season we should sign him and 14 might have been the number. You can't discount the start he is off to. It's hard to see guys like Cobb out there getting almost 15 a year and not expect to get a little bit higher with an extra year.

I also don't see who the f*** we're ever going to sign. You have to overpay for premium free agents, and being in Toronto you have to pay even more. We have nothing on the books and desperately need free agent pitching and there's not a whole lot of good free agents hitting the market over the next few years.

Tulo is still technically on the books

reeks of recency bias

Anyone post this yet?

We should have extended him this past off-season. His value's only going to go up.

Yeah, he said that in his post game interview Friday night. Was really happy hearing that, during the hi lites when I got home.

Yeah, I figured he'd get traded to the Astros and suddenly become a #1 starter by doing that, but thankfully he's done it in Toronto. I always wanted to extend him, but now it has to be done. He's going to have a great year if he stays healthy.

For Stroman, that's far too much, I'm on team Stro, but the market value isn't giving him that.

Are you just really bad at math?

Has no one been telling him his sinker is bad for the last however many years? What does Pete Walker even do?

I can't believe it but Jim is actually talking the most sense here. If there's a good trade to be had, you do it. If there is a reasonable extension, you do that instead.

If there is one thing I learned about this forum is that whatever the consensus on Stroman is, the EXACT OPPOSITE should be done. Remember not too long ago the board consensus was that Sanchez was the keeper over Stroman? LOL

Extend Danny Jansen. Ever since he has taken over catching duties the entire pitching staff has outperformed its expectation. Martin must have rubbed off real good on him.

Take it easy. He will faces Houston

When was that? I don't remember this ever being the case unless it was because Stroman had trade value and Sanchez doesn't due to the fact that he blows donkey dicks

The reports were that Martin basically ignored him, and Maile was the one tutoring him.

Also quite proud that I have been consistent with my message on these two over the years:

I was being sarcastic about the Martin thing, given that they probably passed each other twice in the clubhouse before Martin got shipped out.

reeks of recency bias

5 and 80 is is recency bias? Stroman is on pace to win the Cy Young. If I was going off recency bias I would have put an AAV of 30 mil on the guy.

You can't ignore the start of the season either. Stroman is throwing less 2 seamers and is still growing as a pitcher. The kid put up a 3.4 win season in 130 innings. He had a full season's putting up 3.4 and 3.2 wins and last year he battled with injuries. If we can't pay Stroman 80 over 5 we're never going to get even a second tier free agent let alone a top tier free agent. Toronto like many markets is already at a market plus 10% for premium free agents, because they want to play elsewhere.

I was an Expos' fan all my adult life, but I have to concede that this year's version of the BJs reminds me of my old team. I am warming to them, especially now that Vladdy has joined them. They seem to be a scrappy bunch of guys.

The Blue Jays, fortunately, have deep pockets. But, look at the Rays - they trade away the potential bank busting free agents and stock up. If done intelligently, like the Rays (and to some extent my old Expos) success can be achieved. It would be hard to see Stroman go, however. But, he might allow for the next Vladdy.
