There would be no implications other than a convenient excuse to keep him down for the requisite number of weeks

Yep, 3 weeks to heal, another 3 weeks to rehab, and that's just about perfect timing for the team.

You are unlikely to see him until June now. 3 weeks to heal, your at April 1st. Three weeks to rehab you are at April 21st, and he's just getting warmed up in Buffalo. They aren't calling him up April 21st. They'll leave him there two more weeks and your into May.

Now on the off chance he seems 100% healthy and is 100% raking, Maybe we see him in May. But another month and they save super 2. So more than likely there will be one set up or another, and by the time he is ready, you'll be two or three weeks away from super 2 anyway.

As an aside Brett Lawrie's issues started with Oblique injuries. The Jays really have to nip this in the bud. If their high performance team is worth anything they need to solve his conditioning and injury problems before they become a problem.

1. Knee problems

2. Oblique problems

3. ????

Staying healthy is a skill. At what point do we concede Vladimir Guerrero Jr. does not have that skill?? Obviously I trend towards the sensationalist, and went nuts with his knee injuries last year. He came through that better than I hoped he did, but this can't become a re-occurring thing.

So Vladdy is missing 3 weeks with a left oblique strain. Sounds about right.

This is s*****. We probably don’t see him in April now.

Team says it's hopefully three weeks for game action. Baseball activities in 1-2 weeks maybe. This is fine.

Seems like nobody ever comes back on time from oblique strains.

He is barely 20 yrs old and already is starting to rack up IL time. Does not bode well with that body for the future... Trade him while he has max value :P

The Tellez HR and Jansen's double were also hit hard.

Guys, the Jays are going to win the Spring Training World Series

Also, the Biggio homer was apparently smoked bigtime.

What a day for the young guns.

Borucki with 4 IP, 3 K, 1 BB, 4 H, no runs.

Edit: 5 IP for ACEucki. He does not want to spend any time in Buffalo.

If people ask why baseball is boring and what needs to be done to make the game more exciting.

Because of contracts, service time, options etc, we are probably going to have to see a line up at the ML level of:

Morales, Galvis, Pillar, Maile, Travis if he didnt get hurt/or recovers.

f*** that! I would much rather tune in and pay my money to go to the park to watch these guys any day of the week.

I have felt that way since mid-point last year. I want Tellez in the damn lineup!!

I think the only player who will be held down for non-baseball reasons this year is Vald.

I hope you are right. However, with the veterans currently on the team. Where can Tellez, and Biggio play? I hope the hell they have the huevos to bring Bo up prior to Sept, like April

Both of those guys have something to prove at AAA and I don’t think either is the kind of player you play service time games with. If Tellez rakes in AAA I don’t really have any doubts that they’ll punt Morales and get him up. Vlad is clearly being held down for service time, and I see the same happening with Bo, but everyone else is being held back for baseball reasons.

Tellez killed it in the second half in the minors and the majors as well last year. He has rough year and a half, which coincided with his mother battling and dying of cancer. What's the statistical adjustment you make to a guys stats who has to deal with a dying mother? Tellez is 24 now not 21 or 22.

Morales' WAR will be somewhere between -.5 to maybe .7 WAR. His upside is most likely less than 1 win. That type of ceiling shouldn't prevent any young player from making the club. His biggest value to the team is probably his relationship with Vlad.
