P2F Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 Game 1 is Tuesday at 8:09 PM EST. This should be a great series, but can any team really beat the Red Sox in a best-of-7? From the entire NL field, the Dodgers would have the best chance to do so, imo. Who you guys got? It's hard not to cheer for Walker Buehler, I'll tell ya what.

Puig and Machado's antics are really pissing me off, although I also think Boston is the better team. With their higher emphasis on putting the ball in play, they're also well suited to playing cold weather games in a park you're not gonna hit it out of in October.

I'm starting to get Machado, but what does Puig do that really pisses people off? (Aside from the old fans that have a stick perpetually up their ass?)
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 The Dodgers have more talent, but hopefully they don't roll over and die like Houston did. That was the worst postseason performance of recent memory, especially on the hitting side of things.

King Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Houston hit .219/.337/.385 w/ 21 runs scored in 5 games Cleveland hit .144/196/222 w/ 6 runs scored in 3 games (and that was only because Lindor had a 1.273 OPS) lol grant
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Price has one decent playoff game as a SP. Sale was in the hospital last week. I want Boston to win and think they will, but those are two serious isues. Lastly, when in the NL park, not having the DH is going to further weaken Boston more so then LA.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Red Sox in 5, make it a 3 year run of the best team winning.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Lol @ the Dodgers having more talent. Looking forward to the impending grant meltdown.

Cleveland's opponent led the league in pitching WAR, which was more than 50% higher than Houston's opponent.

Against the Astros, the Red Sox started Sale, Price, Porcello and Eovaldi, and the bullpen included Kimbrel - that's better than the vast majority of teams and is pushing top 5. It's not like the Astros were playing the Orioles.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Hoping the Dodgers win, but Boston will win it in 5 or 6. It’s their year.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 I would love to see some old-school pitching duels, and less bullpen games. I'd love to see Kershaw vs. Sale/Price take a scoreless game into the 8th or something. Really happy Milwaukee lost for that reason.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 I'd rather see the Dodgers win - just because they haven't in a long time and I like to see some all-time greats like Kershaw get his due. But Machado's such a **** that I hope he's plagued by karma his entire career and never gets a ring. For me - overall, these playoffs have been really disappointing and I really don't care who wins now.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 SMH - Buck's doing the World Series. Is Joe West and Angel Hernandez on the umpire crew too? jesus.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 SMH - Buck's doing the World Series. Is Joe West and Angel Hernandez on the umpire crew too? jesus. Joe Buck's been doing the world series for the last 20 years. Nothing's gonna change.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Terrible decision there by Puig. You've gotta keep that runner at 1st, especially with a ground ball pitcher.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 I kinda wanna see Boston win just to see Grant lose his marbles.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 I kinda wanna see Boston win just to see Grant lose his marbles. Did he find them again after the last time?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Terrible decision there by Puig. You've gotta keep that runner at 1st, especially with a ground ball pitcher. He's not really known for making good decisions...speaking of which - what on earth was Robert's challenging? Kershaw just doesn't look dominant at all anymore.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Buck - "there's a certain knack that RBI hitters have with runners in scoring position" f*** me MLB - nobody believes this s*** anymore. Retire this dinosaur.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Wow - Martinez let Kershaw off the hook there...he was on the ropes.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Missed pop. Up Stoken base Runner picked off Bunch of singles Somehow it's 2-0
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Kershaw balked big time on the pick off.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Kershaw balked big time on the pick off. What makes you say that? You don't think it was a distinct step towards first?
