Would be nice for SRF to put together some consistency. He's probably got true number 3 upside but he'll have an amazing start followed by a start he doesn't even go 3 innings.

Perhaps he gets called up later this year. Jays sure need some pitching.

Alford's heating up and Kevin Smith is no longer off to a slow start in Dunedin.

Kevin Smith off to a hot start in Dunedin.

Nice game from Saucedo in a losing cause as well. 5 hits and 2 ER over 8 is a solid day. K's were meh but only 2 BB's.

Anyone know hot to pronounce his name?

Chavez Young very quietly having a pretty good season in Lansing as a 20 year old. He's riding a .400 babip but that's only slightly high for his minor league career so far. HIs K rate has dropped, and walk rate gone up since 2016 with advancing levels. Might be something there someday.

.327/.383/.483/.866 slash line with 69 hits, 17 doubles, 5 triple and 2 HR, 17 SB (8 CS). Last 10 games hitting .444 with more walks (7) than Ks(6).

Vlad, Biggio, Smith, Bo is nice looking infield depth if they all turn out like they should lol;...... Also Gurriel is hot right now...

Danny Jansen's bat certainly looks ready. Not sure where he's at defensively though.

Bit of a conundrum for sure. His hit tool is legit, but there's not much power there at all. Speed obviously isn't a strength, but has an okay arm.

Right now he's still projecting as a below average bat in MLB due to the lack of power, luckily the bar for offense at catcher isn't high. All those catcher intangibles has to be a strength or his bat won't play anywhere else.

He has a near .500 SLG in AAA. I would disagree that he doesn’t have power. It’s just more gap than home run power.

His power will probably play up in the majors too given the balls are different.

Who says he doesn't have power?? He's slugged .485 the last couple of years. In 528 at bats he has 39 doubles, 3 triples, and 14 homers. His power is fine.

If Jansen "doesn't have power"... how would you describe Roman Fields say?? Over the last two years Roman has the same number at bats as Jansen

My name is Jansen I have no power - (~528 at bats, 39 doubles, 3 triples, 14 homers)

My name is Fiellds XXXXXXXXXXX - (~540 at bats, 18 doubles, 6 triples, 1 homer)

I put XXXXXXXXX here because if Jansen has no power, I have no clue how we describe Roman. Negative power?? WTF. Jansen has clear line drive power.

Jansen - I have a .480 sluggin percentage, I have no power.

Fields - I have a .330 slugging percentate, XXXXXXXXXXXX

Again, if Jansen (.480 slugging) has no power, I have no clue how you describe Fields (.330 slugging).

I guess the bigger question is, does Martin have any trade value to a contender isn't it.

We'd get absolutely nothing for Martin unless we eat a good chunk of his salary, and at that point I'd rather just keep him so Jansen and McGuire can learn from him. He's probably more valuable to us than anyone else.

Average power in the minors usually doesn't translate to average power in the majors. His absolute ceiling is average power, which would be awesome. I never said he has no power, that's you putting words into my fingers and building a nice little strawman to tear down.

I concede that my choice of words stating "there's not much power there" was misleading, as what I meant to get across is that I don't expect above average power output in the majors and it's certainly not his calling card.

However, as I said, the bar for catchers is low and you are right that he does drive the ball well for doubles.

And yeah, Roemon Fields is completely devoid of power.
