Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Gurriel and Ureña really heating up in AAA, although neither of them draw walks.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Again, no love for Romano. He gets a last minute call to go up to AAA for his first time. He then proceeds to outpitch the opposition pitcher, pitches enough innings to get a win and only allows 2 runs. I think I am seeing the Millenials generation Jack Morris affect here. Morris’s numbers and ERA sucked, but he pitched as needed to the opponent and won, and won or put his team in a position to win.

Romano was awful dude, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts over 5 innings is not good at all. Minor league ERA is probably as irrelevant a stat as you could use to judge anyone. Jack Morris was in his 4th MLB season posting consecutive 3.5 win campaigns at Romano's age.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 With Martin transitioning to a utility role, does that create enough space for Danny Jansen to get some legit playing time? He's ready and then some from what I have seen.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 At least dont steal my line, I used that same line this weekend on SirBJ talking about how hot Gabe Kapler’s body was.

The point is that altough his stats sucked for all you analitazis, at the end of the day. He allowed 2 runs and pitched enough innings to get the win and have his team in a position for a win. Happ and Sanchez have done the same thing previously with walks, got out of the inning with minimal to no damage and had sucess. ( Not talking about 2018 Sanchez)
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 I hate it when I can't tell if someone is a troll or just ignorant. It sucks getting old.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 He had a better debut then SRF
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 and he's a local...can't fail! Legit positive about Romano is that he has very little mileage on his arm despite his age. He played his high school in Ontario so he was never a 365 guy. He started out as a reliever in College as well as starting out his pro career in the pen and then losing a year to TJS. Jays brought him back from TJS as a starter and he pitched okay. RHH hit a .534 OPS against him last year. Legit negatives - He doesn't command the fastball, he throws his slider more than the change, the change is terrible. View him as a legit possibility to make the team some day. We are talking about a 20th guy on the roster upside though unless the Change is getting better and he's hitting his max of 96 more often and with more control. He is pretty much Deck McGuire without the collegiate pedigree.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
