Smith had to hold up to make sure the ball wasn't caught (it was very close). It's too bad though, as Grandy was busting it out of the box and would have made 3rd easy. Morales was inexcusable though.

I feel like Granderson should have read Morale's hit a lot better.

There's three outcomes. A home run, in which case it doesn't matter. A fly ball, in which case it's a double play if he ventures past 2nd. Off the wall, which is unlikely given the air time. The latter happened, and was relayed back almost instantly. I don't see how we fault Granderson on that.

Not sure how it looked on TV but it honestly seemed like HR or flyout in person.

No excuse for Granderson, you’re the tying run, with 0 outs you go halfway, your likely not advancing if ball is caught anyway.

The fact that fatty wasn’t standing on 2B after that towering fly ball was a worse crime.

Agreed. When Trout turned his back on the ball, Granderson should have broke off the bag. Just reading the flight of the ball in itself when it was getting close to the wall should have been read better. Granderson was cemented on the bag at second tagging up as if on of the outfielders were camped under it. You have to read the footwork of the outfielder, if you see their heals for the most part, then there's a decent chance it goes off the wall at least,so bounce off the bag a bit. If the catch is made, you still have a good chance of getting back and tagging up with the outfielder's momentum going into the wall.

Horrible instincts all around.

Didn't trout also turn his back and wait for it to hit the wall....should have been running at that point imo

He should have went halfway, look what gruber said.

I feel like they figured, "ahhhh, nobody out... Let's just be super cautious, the run will come in anyways" lol

Yeah I think zero outs played a big factor. They threw caution to the wind though on the next AB when Grandy was thrown out.

f*** I turned this off when Clippard did his thing. Now I'm reading this and have no idea what happened....

Felt like the last time he s*** the bed minus the grand slam so the pain was a bit more drawn out.

Baserunning blunders everywhere.

Ok, I watched it.

Easy to see in hindsight, but I don't mind that Grandy tagged up on the Morales drive. If that's caught, he's moves to 3rd with 1 out, representing the tying run. If the ball's gone, the game's over and if the ball hits off the wall and gets away from the OFer (which was a possibility if Trout tries to make a leaping catch), then he scores also. With nobody out - I don't fault him at all.

Morales should have been on 2nd after hitting the ball. That's bad and would have been awful if Teo hit into a double play.

It was the coaches fault for sending Grandy on Teo's fly ball to RF.
