You don't get rich like these owners by worrying about what some other old rich fart thinks about you. Unwritten rules are so f***ing stupid. f***ing f***s.

THis is true on the surface, but when the owners collude as much as they do... owners want to make themselves richer, not 19 year old kids.

Is Rogers really going to care about service time with the dwindling crowds, especially as the Jays fall further back? They need the excitement Vladi would bring.

Of course they care, as soon as the team is built back up and competitive again the mindless drones will be walking over each other to get tickets and fill the dome back up again. Might as well build the team properly so we can sustain it for more than 2 years the next time.

Would Vladi bashing the ball around at the dome not the crowds out?

No, fans didn't show up to watch Halladay pitch a hall of fame career they seem to only care about winning strangely enough...

I don't think any 19-year-old has ever done what he's doing while walking as much/more than he's striking out in AA. We're legitimately watching one of the greatest AA seasons of all time.

Mike Trout slashed .326/.414/.544 with 11HR in 90 games during his age-19 season in AA. Not saying Vlad is Trout (he’s obviously never providing Trouts baserunning or defence) but what Vlad is doing has gotta be pretty close to unprecedented.

Anyone have any plans to head down to see Vladi in action, heading down to Binghamton for the game against New Hampshire this Saturday, can’t wait !!! Hitting up the Bisons game on the way home Sunday.

Unprecedented, maybe, but enough to burn prime time years of control... not even close. If he batted 1.000 and hit 300 homers he would still be in the minors this year. These guys know how to handle talent and years.

It's unfortunate that the game had gotten to point where players who are major league ready are being held back strictly for financial, and resignability reasons.

It's probably something that, combined with recent free agency issues, will lead to the next work stoppage.

Yeah a 2022 work stoppage almost seems inevitable with the current issues. Not ideal for the jays and the way our roster is shaping up

It's been done forever, I honestly don't even know that the PA has any issue with it. Fans have more issues with it. The fact that revenue is sitting at about a 49/51 split right now down to the lowest players share in the past 25 years ... that is going to cause a work stoppage. The MLBPA has failed the players for about 30 years now and they are going to make this one count.

Should have accepted a salary cap when they had a chance. Now there is a cap with no floor.

Players aren't getting paid enough? That's what you're saying?

This image isn't exactly correct. I can't find the BTBS which talked about how these numbers are missing the playoff share to the players and the benefits they receive so the numbers are about 5 percentage points higher.

Yep leagues like the NHL, NBA and NFL tie salaries into revenue. Hell even the CFL does.

So the players did f*** up by not accepting a salary cap? That's interesting (this side of baseball bores me, so I don't follow it).

The PA is going to get roasted by the general public if they cause a work shortage to bitch that they aren't getting paid enough. Whether it's right or not, they may challenge the Ontario Teachers (and politicians) as the least respected profession in our province.

I think a cap signed in 1994 wouldn't have been tied to revenue so it probably would have hurt them if they signed it back then. Since then so much has happened. The front offices are smarter and found ways to work a competitive team cheaper, while the PA was working for competitive balance. They are now filing grievances against the teams that get payments for not spending them on players (three of the teams I can think of that they complained about are .500 or better right now...the Pirates and A's are 3 games over and the Rays are .500). Turns out spending on old players that the PA has been using as their face don't matter to teams as much as they thought. I think the big fight this time will be on the fight for when a player hits free agency. Something like the RFA system of hockey. Like where a player going to arbitration sets their amount...well if the team refuses it another team has an option to match instead. It would actually make the off-season interesting again.

You are correct that baseball players have the worst of the public image when it comes to pay for play. Football players can literally saying they are killing themselves out there (and probably each one has a former teammate who has died), Hockey players don't get the $20M a year or anywhere close to it. Fifty percent of basketball fans wouldn't even read about behind the scenes stuff unless it was put on a meme. Baseball players are playing America's game in front of old people that worked their whole lives to afford to watch a baseball game.

He toes the company line. Has done it for years. You will never get an honest opinion from him.

If he gets called up to Buffalo I will for sure. I don't know why it's a big deal when they are going to be in the majors soon enough anyway, but I did the same when Harper was in AAA.

lol makes me sick to think we might not see him until September.

Very small chance it's September. In June or day 171 next year
