JFD Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 So cool that there is a count down - https://www.mlb.com/video/top-50-bat-flips-5-1/c-1873061383 It feels like only a short while ago that JB was getting flamed for being a classless bat flipper. Now there is a countdown of bat flip awesomeness. Hilarious.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 #1 is hilarious. That guy had two career home runs and on one of them he has the #1 bat flip of all-time. It seemed like he was being cocky but I wonder if he was just in shock or something.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Or the worst ever, depending on opinions. He captivated an entire city and that flip remains a part of one of the greatest moments in this franchise history. Love or hate the guy, his bat flip will be remembered for years.

Fiddlehead Verified Member Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Lawless’ was good, but that JB flip may be the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen in a baseball game.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Lawless’ was good, but that JB flip may be the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen in a baseball game. Not even close. I'll take Randy Johnson making a Dove explode every day.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Funny how no one really seemed to care back then. Now if you don't sprint out of the box, Brian McCan will try to challenge you to a MMA fight.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Baseball needs to attract millennials and younger to the game. It's not going to happen by continuing to be viewed as the "old white man's game". Bat flips, home runs, celebrations, personalities.....there needs to be more of that. Brian McCann can go cry in a corner.

Brian McCann can go cry in a corner. I think it's key to have a balance. The "trash talk" type of behaviour (ie. celebrations, bat flips, personalities) is great for the new generation, and you'd think that it should be embraced, but if everyone embraced it, where would you get the passion, conflict, rivalries? Brian McCann's are key to that. The "don't embarrass my team" attitude will create that conflict and passion that baseball needs. Look at how hot and bothered everyone got about Bautista and what it created. This is great. If everyone was ok with everyone flipping equipment all over the place there would never be any conflict between teams and as a result, between fans. I like the passion caused by the different philosophies. Shows that people care...gets more people talking and paying attention.

Taken in context the JB bat Flipp and the Robbie raised arms 92 HR were enormous plays in crucial situations with a lot of stuff going on. Texas and Oakland fans and players should be pissed. That’s the beauty of it. When it happens to us, we’ll suck it up and dislike the guy for life....
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Not putting Bautista first is like participating in a fantasy draft and not taking Mike Trout #1. Trying to be too cute. Bautista's bat flip was the best and nothing comes close. The atmosphere, the tension and then the bat flip itself was amazing. The slow pause before just hurling it off to the side like a boss.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Yeah the only reason bat flips are being talked about today is because of Bautista. I don't recall much hoopla about it before 2015 other than the occasional triggering of Brian McCann and his types.

You can't script that s*** it was just perfect.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Jose Fernandez hit a bomb and triggered McCann so hard that he wouldn't let him touch home plate. Oops. wrong one. Was thinking about the Carlos Gomez homer. <--- Fernandez <--- Gomez Both worth a watch for the lulz

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 I agree - Jose's was the best, but man....Lawless's strut and confidence (on what was a wall scrapper and his 2nd career HR) was phenomenal and stupid all at once. Lawless's was also in the World Series guys - so it clearly had the dramatics (I wish they showed or said the score in the clip). Also - WHY THE f*** was a guy who hit .080 in the regular season batting in a World Series game?

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 (edited) Gomez against Cole? Yeah, that one too, lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AIecOjZSdk Joey Bats... lol, love this MOFO! f***ing Umpires, lol. An elite eye man, love prime Jose! This needed more Bats vs O'Day... the skip, etc... lol. Edited March 2, 2018 by Spanky99
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Best part is that Gomez' homer was in the first inning. Pimping a home run in a 0-0 game LOL! Love it! There was a backstory to it. He had a grudge against Maholm for hitting him in an earlier contest and also I think he generally hated the Braves (who didn't).

Was thinking about the Carlos Gomez homer. <--- Fernandez <--- Gomez Both worth a watch for the lulz Lol McCann is a toilet. Imagine getting pissed off and creating a scene after a pitcher hits a home run. Everyone should have been laughing. That Gomez homer is pretty good too. The guy hitting the homer always looks like a badass and the guys complaining about him celebrating too much always look like such sour grapes.
