@Wilnerness590

Gibby’s back - and he tells us that #Bluejays are going to “back off” Marcus Stroman because of mild shoulder inflammation, revealed by MRI. No major concern, just going to let it “get out of there”.

I recall hearing something about him trying more of a sidearm delivery.

Blue Jays RHP Marcus Stroman has right shoulder inflammation

Feb 27, 2018

DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman has undergone an MRI exam that found inflammation in his throwing shoulder.

Stroman expects to resume throwing in the next three to five days.

"I know that I'll be back hopefully the very beginning of the season," Stroman said.

Stroman said the MRI exam showed the shoulder is structurally fine.

"Super clean, so I was happy with that," Stroman said. "Just a bit of inflammation. It's some thing that I could probably get through if I needed to get through it. This is some thing that I rather deal with now, get it out now rather than some thing that lingers throughout the year."

Stroman went 13-9 with a 3.09 ERA last year. He struck out 164, two shy of his career high, and walked 62 in 201 innings.

The 26-year-old Stroman is eligible for free agency after the 2020 season. He is open to negotiating a multiyear contract.

What lol....where did you hear that

They don't even have a timetable for his spring training debut, ofcourse it sounds like he won't be ready for opening day.

He literally said it himself.

Id expect him back in 2 weeks max. Around 80 pitches when the season starts...we will see though

There is virtually no reason for him to throw side arm. None. Just his stupidity

It's not like he's doing it constantly, and he has pretty good mechanics. Nothing wrong with searching for an edge, as long as you're smart about it.

Man, some people jump all over Stro for anything.

Unless you're a medical specialist in that field, no one can say with any degree of certainty something like an arm slot change caused any damage.

When you through 95 mph, you sometimes get a sore arm.

Aside: I love that Griff uses that as his twitter avatar. There's a lot of bad s*** you can say about Stoeten, but his sendups of Richard Griffin were great.

no verified, is that actually him, or can he just not get verified status?

I was under the impression that it is actually him, and that he was a good sport about the DJF stuff... Dunno if I has even tried to get verified.

Slide arm might be better on your shoulder from day one, but when your muscles are use to a certain repetitive motion, and then you switch it completely, that’s when injuries occur.

Say what you will about Stroman's 'attitude' but he's one of the few pitchers the Jays have had in recent memory whom I trust for virtually every start. He just has this way of being in control of the zone and attacking that is so fun to watch, hope you're ready for opening day Stro!
