John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Pleasantly surprised to see that John Schneider was given the promotion. Apparantly his role will be a focus on working with the catchers
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Apparantly his role will be a focus on working with the catchers That's really interesting. Thanks for that. I was wondering if it was a new position with that "oh so descriptive" title. I'm just happy he'll be up here when Vlad and Bo debut.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 The Jay Bruce dream finally dies /s: That's just insulting to be lumped in with the Tigers and Marlins lol.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 That's just insulting to be lumped in with the Tigers and Marlins lol. And he took Baltimore and Seattle off that list to add them two, he wants nothing to do with Toronto, lol.

Laika Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 (edited) Blue Jays finalized coaching staff: Enough coaches for an entire beer league lineup! And the positions kind of work out too. Rivera - SS Montoyo - 2B Duncan - LF Martinez - 3B Schneider - C Hudgens - 1B Budzinski - CF Buschmann - RF/RP Walker - SP Pitching might be an issue, and we'll have to hide Buschmann in RF I guess but he's relatively young so his athleticism will probably shine through. Maybe Ross Atkins can throw a couple innings of horrendous middle relief to bridge to Buschmann. Edited November 28, 2018 by Laika
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 The Jay Bruce dream finally dies /s: Not interested in slow, average or below average D corner OF types. Good stay dead.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Apparantly his role will be a focus on working with the catchers I hope this role will not divert him from the ML manager track. He was my first choice to replace Gibbons.. He probably needs to take some Spanish classes also if he does not already speaky the Spanish.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 What beautiful group of humans. You jackasses should start a Jays hottest coaches list. I nominate Duncan for my #1.

Lmfao I can't believe Shelley Duncan is part of the coaching staff. Didn't he throw a few haymakers are a few current Blue Jays? Also, Luis Rivera's face looks like it's melting off his skull.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I didn't know where to ask this, and it sounds outlandish but its been a thoughtworm for a bit. Would there be any interest in signing Trout by the Jays in 2021 (I assume he will opt for FA if Angels don't show any sign of reaching post-season within the next year or so)? Reports say he'll be commanding a 400-500M/10y contract (I know the front-office is largely against long-term contracts). It'd technically line up with our post-season push.

It's nice to have dreams...Trout would not sign here nor would the Jays pay enough.

After having the Angels waste the first half of his career, I don’t think there’s any chance he’d consider coming here.

Jays are set up to be a power house after the 2020 season, depending on how things go. I hope he would at least consider coming here

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 https://anchor.fm/birdwatchinggc/episodes/Hot-Topic---AFL-Prospect-talk-w-ProspectsLive-com-e2lhe4 Fantastic podcast with the Prospects Live dudes. They're uber high on Pearson, Jansen (who they think will have a run as the best catcher in the majors in a few seasons), and Orelvis Martinez (who they called the next great teenage hitting prospect).
